Anyone stay here since they took over from Mandarin Oriental?

Loved it as the MO, curious how the ownership change has gone.

Really ?

I heard they were getting a gaming license and turning it into a poker-only hotel-casino.

lol. It’s a Waldorf now. I haven’t heard if they plan on adding gaming, but I doubt it.

I don't know either, but the arguments for a poker-only venue can be very persuasive. I think they may plan on turning the 23d floor SkyBar area into "Ted's Room".

Yeah? Lets hear some of those arguments? Right next to Aria, too expensive for many poker players, already saturated market. What possible reason would there be for a poker only venue?

The NVG joke is kinda pointless when most LVL posters don’t even frequent that forum, let alone click on a stupid thread about a poker themed hotel.

An early blueprint for Encore had a poker room in that hallway between the two properties where the poker room was surrounded by a lake. Would have been kinda cool I guess.. but yeah Wynn killed that idea.

It amused me to make it.

I chuckled...briefly. After I saw that some did not get the joke, I chuckled, again...

I walked by it. But I got a surly look by a host just for looking in a window.

Consider upgrading your street cred by purchasing some Trooper gear ?

I stayed at the MO a few times and my wife loved it. On flyertalk, Hilton diamonds are reporting very good treatment there. I’ll check it out in June.

I didn't stay there but my buddy did and I toured the standard room layout. I was also with him at check in, and we hung out in the bar that overlooks the strip one evening. The rooms are fantastic 10/10, and the level of service and professionalism is on par with Wynn/Encore. I'll probably book my next stay there over my default Vdara if the price differential isn't too bad. This was over Thanksgiving weekend.

Have stayed twice since changeover. The place has an annoying elevator change on third floor. Rooms are nice, but about time for a makeover. Spa is amazing. Very good treatment as Hilton Diamond. Good location next door to Aria. Place is very quiet by strip standards. Overall, it is a thumbs-up and will probably be amazing once the rumored makeover is complete.
