Then people wouldn't get the notification from poker atlas that their seat is ready, defeating the purpose of poker atlas.

Also, I'm not really buried in my phone but having to provide a valid e-mail to get slow service sucks. Wynn poker doesn't require an e-mail btw.

I wonder how much this new room is affecting the Resorts World room after noticing how much the Resorts World room is struggling.

Resorts World doesn’t seem to have benefited from Caesars closing their room.

Sure it’s only a Tuesday in August, but Resorts World has 1 NL table going. Venetian has 15. Wynn has 10.

I know Resorts World started charging for parking not too long ago. But I used to prefer that room over Venetian and now I prefer Venetian and Wynn, and I can’t be the only one. Part of the issue is the location though.

Been in Vegas this week and the town feels more empty in general than during July. RW felt empty in general tonight.

From a poker standpoint, it's likely that some traffic is going to Venetian to check out the new room while other people are playing Wynn series.

I try to support RW, but there's nothing really to differentiate them at this time of year.

Eight-figure decision or I don’t pick up the ****ing phone. At least not until the fourth ring.

I get not liking players who are always on their phones or laptops. But people have families and kids and jobs and other things. Being able to be reached any time isn't crazy nowadays.

The town does feel more dead than usual after a busy weekend.

I like Resorts World too. Unfortunately for that room, Wynn also offers low rake, $1.50 an hour comps, and more tables of NL Hold’em and Resorts World no longer offers free parking either.

I spoke too soon .... PokerAtlas was reporting games in progress, so I ubered over to the Grand Casino ..... for dinner and, hopefully live poker.

The room was completely empty, zero games running. The desk gave me a BS statement about how all the players had gone to Mexico "for a tournament" .... complete, all-too-common BS.

I blame the room management btw, not Poker Atlas.

I checked the other card room in town, the Hotel Taormina, which had cash games running.

The only hope for Resorts World poker room is that the Vegas loop has routes to all the major casinos with poker rooms and starts operating 24/7/365 instead of basically never.

Unfortunately there are people like that who will vape in a lot of places they are not supposed to vape in. They will do it and try to be sneaky about it or hope that nobody says anything.

RW has been struggling since day1... poker atlas is partially to blame.

Once, and he never did it again but I shouldn’t have to be the one to tell him. That’s the dealers job

Played PLO at V tonight, good game and same structure as Aria/Wynn. $3/hour comps that can be used almost anywhere is nice. Drink machines is nice. Room is well lit and comfortable chairs. Might play there more often, they did a good job with the room.

Back on topic. Played the new room a few times this past week.

Feels a bit weird to have a poker room in the middle of an upscale mall. Heard some speculation from one or two players that this is the beginning of the end for Venetian poker, but from my standpoint it's a positive that they are at least investing in a new space instead of shutting it down outright ala Flamingo, TI.

New room is nice with easy bathroom access in the back and a drink machine for self service. They still have servers coming around regularly. You can order food from the room service menu and the word is that Grand Lux table service will be back soon. If bathroom lines get crowded on breaks, you have plenty of time to go downstairs into Palazzo instead.

Chairs have been upgraded from the old space and the air quality is much higher, as you're no longer huffing cigarette fumes.

Many people have expressed concern that the location of the new room will prevent random late night drunk whale foot traffic, which seems like a legitimate worry. The room is surrounded by high end retail shops that aren't going to generate any late night churn. It's also in a bit of a food desert. You can't pop next door and grab a quick pizza slice like Aria.

Time will tell how the move works out, but for now it's at least a nice environment to play in.

I think Las Vegas can support a stand alone Poker/card room... but I think it needs to be OFF strip and premium.

surely this is going to cut down on walk in traffic and drunk players, but it seems Venetian is trying to do this while having their cake and eating it to.

They posted this on Facebook today: "$3 In Poker Rewards (comps) per cash game hour played for all game types through December 31."

Makes it sound like the comps could possibly change after that date.

The opening has obviously been a success for the room and personally I’m more optimistic about the room than I’ve been in years. This is the first time in years they have done anything to try to get players in the room instead of trying to chase players away.

I’m surprised some people like the chairs. I find them less comfortable than the chairs in other rooms.

But the issue is the room is now full of locals who don’t “gamble” or drink. Everyone is there chasing the high hands…
