Thought it would be a 2 second Google job but apparently not.

Wheres the best place to get a Data sim card for a week when we land? I think we land at midnight so perhaps have to wait till the next morning?

Id say 1-2GB would be more than enough for the week.

There's places in the airport that can do this. You can get a number and working phone before you get in your car on the way to the hotel.

I've used mrsimcard as an online service, sure there are others. Get the sim before you go, might not be the best possible price, but you have the sim on the plane, pop it in before landing, power up while disembarking and you are good to go.

After getting messed about in local stores before, the small premium just to have a no-hassle solution that works seems well worth it.

The most convenient place to get a SIM card on the strip is the T-Mobile store in the Showcase mall by the MGM grand.

Does that still hold true if you are international?

Problems often crop up that probably shouldn't in 2019, but still do when you travel.

"what is your zip code?"
"I don't have a zip code"
"It is a compulsory field...."
"great, but I still don't have one" etc

Likewise with "State" and even phone number, surprising how many applications are gg'd by the inability to put "other" or "n/a" in a drop-down field sometimes.

I've tried switching off data roaming and just using wifi and I've tried cheap and cheerful hacks, but inevitably at some point, I wish I'd just paid the $23 and taken a US SIM on the plane with me.

T-Mobile offers a special plan for tourists, and I have had no problems getting a SIM card on that carrier as a visitor.

I had no issue as a foreigner at the T-Mobile store (tourist sim cards), quite a quick and easy process

Don't all carriers just let you use your home plan for a daily fee nowadays?

Often times they carge a lot yep, Ive never really used that, you get better deals. Even 5pounds a day, thats quite expensive...

Airports should have them, yep and some airports have a lot, but I havent seen them in Vegas. at least the were not in the arrival zone.

Nowadays I usually just buy them at a market around where I live (and you dont have to fill in any address BS w/e no matter the destination) but Walmart was a decent source in the US. Open 24h and easy to get from the airport also

For the convenience, it seems fine to me. However, I've no experience of what the rate should be, or generally is for that.

$100 seems reasonable enough for the fortnight.
