Hi all,

Planning on going to Vegas for the second time in my life, however, I’ll be alone this time.

Would like all opinions and feedback.

I have vacation at work and the first time I went to Vegas I stayed at a desert club that was like a 10 minute walk to the strip which was awesome Bc my mom paid for it and I went with my friend for a week

Since I’m going alone this time I plan on only staying 4 or 5 days.

I was thinking either the week before Thanksgiving or mid December any noticeable differences between them?

I plan on playing a ton of poker

Also, I found treasure island room rates to be very cheap only like 200 bucks for 4 nights. The location is good as well Bc id love to play at the Wynn and Venetian.

Any tips or opinions or advice for someone going on their first solo trip?

Money should not be an option and I plan on playing only 1/2 or 1/3.

Thanksgiving should attract more visitors, thus juicier games. And I think Venetian is running a DSE series around that time.

Mid December is too random and no extra draw to improve games.

In November I found myself playing 2 shifts... 1 during morning/afternoon when football games were on. Then again late evening when more drunk people at the tables.

Im impartial to the Downtown Grand due to inexpensive rates, great rooms for the price, and $20 tip trick worked 100% of the time. It is in downtown, so food and drink options are a little more reasonable... and Golden Nugget has an uncapped 1/2 PLO game that I want to be near when it goes off.

Mid-December is slower but there will still be plenty of 1/2 and 1/3 games. Personally I like it when it's a bit slower in town.

2nd the mid-december due to being slower. You'll still be able to find good games going off...but less overall traffic.

Lol... do these two above play poker or are they 90 years old? When playing cash in Vegas, table selecting is the difference between being in a game and being in a mouth-watering-memorable game. The increased traffic helps with that.

Bellagio Five Diamond starts after
Thanksgiving and continues for about2 weeks; there will be players during that time.

I would recommend Nov over Dec - PH has the WSOPC and Venetian has their DSE IV series that month. Both should bring in lots of tournament players, who will often end up in cash games when they bust.

There is a smaller/shorter DSE event in Dec. but not terribly much going on otherwise. Lots of tourists around NYE though.

Well I’m looking at roughly mid December now found extremely cheap room rates at the linq and flamingo for a 6 day trip are only like 250 bucks total. I think I can try the 20 dollar trick as well.

Any more feedback? I can use more if anyone as advice?

I know this issue has prob been hammered to death but any advice as to where to play at ?

I loved the Venetian but wanna try bellagio and aria as well for 1/3 and the Wynn 1/3 looks amazing! Any opinions?

Don’t bother with the 20 dollar trick at the Linq I don’t even think they have suites or even upgrades other than a few rooms that open straight to the pool deck

Last year i made the mistake of spending mid december in vegas. The games i encountered were the nittiest games ive ever seen anywhere, ever. Id go from room to room, and I would just find nits adding up their comp hours and collecting hours for freerolls and promos. Most of these players would routinely fold hands like AQ to a $10 raise. I once played at the Encore and witnessed a dealer deal his entire down without putting a flop on the table.

This idea that 1-2 and 1-3 games are always soft in Vegas is a huge myth. Its like 60% of the players are locals grinding to get CET diamond and other freeroll type stuff. These guys pay more attention to their tier credit rate and player comps rate than you could imagine.

Good players? Not really. But nits that make the games into an unenjoyable waste of time? Pretty much. Nittiest city in NA now.

Ugh can anyone else verify that the game are really that nitty at 1/2 and 1/3 in mid December ?

I would have thought super late night bellagio or aria would have decent action

That kinda makes me wanna change my mind

Man I don't want to burst your bubble but I'll bet a black chip this price does NOT include resort fees. RF alone is about 30, add close to 10 for taxes, and that total alone is almost the 250 you have budgeted for 6 nights.

Yeah so the only thing I have to pay for is resort fees and taxes they are comping the room for free if I stay Sunday thru Thursday night at the flamingo. So the total price is lien 180

I guess it’s so cheap and they are comping me Bc no one goes that fine of year

Just looking on Expedia.de (where they are required by law to show the final price including all fees and taxes), which is usually not the cheapest site to book from, I can see Flamingo for a six day trip = five nights in mid December for ~$300. More than half of that are resort fees.

I guess I'm fascinated cuz I happened to be looking for same hotels for a trip this week, decided to check out December for kicks after reading this thread, and the literal cheapest nights I see at Flamingo is $27 a night PLUS RF and taxes. Works out to 5 nights total to $325. (Essentially what Madlex found. I used my TR card but it's basic level so saved a couple bucks maybe.)

If/how you got a comped room is apparently a story for another time.

The week after the rodeo winds down, room prices hit rock bottom and things get really slow.

During that time frame one day, I walked thru the Canal Shops at the Venetian, during business hours, and did not see a single person in the entire mall other than staff.

So,you are correct in your supposition.

They have rooms with a small living area on the side. It's nothing too fancy. I much preferred the jacuzzi suite in Bally's Jubilee Tower.

The two weeks after the rodeo in December is supposedly the only slow time in Vegas all year. I don't think I've ever been there at that time so I can't really comment.

The first couple of weeks of the new year can be terrible too from my experience. Alot of people make new years resolutions. For fish, not gambling and not drinking are often the resolutions. For grinders, playing more is often the plan for the new year. So do the math and think about what kind of games that leads too.
