Hey Everyone.
This report didn't get the traction of my previous ones, but I'm probably to blame for that. Here's what happened:
After dusting off more than I should've at Pai Gow, I was almost out of bills. Also we got a bunch of Thursday to Friday overnight NBA action that looked good, which polished off my last couple. So, first thing Friday, I walked to the no commission Bank of America atm on 4th street and took out $400, which I intended as a stop loss. Hopefully that wouldn't come into play.
Needing something to do, I played some 8am $5 blackjack with some bikers, which was an excellent experience. Plus I ended up netting 7 half dollars--nothing like a big win in silver.
Once Ethan and AG$ were up, we went to the restaurant for another $7.50 steak and eggs. Let me tell you what, that is a solid deal.
After wandering around/couponing and whatever other marginally gambling nonsense, we got a round of half off appetizers and cocktails. In order of quality: (1)wings (2)potato balls (3)cheese curds (4)cauliflower tempura.
Played almost the rest of my money in NBA bets. They went well. The funnest was the lakers +3 alongside the suns +5.5 (in action). Arbitrage sweats are the best.
The downtown grand has a pretty solid book. But they don't always seem to have control of the channels. At one point they put the exorcist on the main tv with sound for about 10min without realizing it:
Played a bunch of black jack. Ran super hot. At one point Ethan and I sat down with a friendly guy playing alone at a $10-500 table. I don't think I've ever played with an obvious advantage player before, but when we sat down (early in a shoe at 6-deck) he was betting one spot for $10. Then the count got insanely good. I wasn't keeping perfect track but something like +15. By this point, he started betting $250 on multiple spots. Plus he ran good, and colored up almost $3k (five purples!!). Unsurprisingly, he flew the hell out of there without even cashing the chips. I always wondered how hard it would be to spot someone doing that. As it turns out, super, super easy. Note to self: you probably don't need to be scared when spreading $10-50 while drinking and screwing around.
Anyways. I also ran good and won a couple hundred.
Then we went and got dinner at the fancy Triple george place across the street. I got the chicken pot pie. It was good but I kept burning my mouth:
Played some more black jack and won a little. By this point it was like 1am and we neeed to find a way to kill time until 3:30 when we'd catch a ride to the airport. So we played some $10 pai gow and chilled with the dealers.
Anyways funny thing happened: At one point I get a royal (which would've been 125:1 if I'd been playing the bonus). So the dealer badgers me about playing the bonus. I don't. So next hand I get a full house (5:1). So it goes. Dealer makes fun of me. I pump fake that I'm going to put $10 on the bet and $10 on the bonus. And then move it over and bet $20 and no bonus before the cards come out...I get dealt a straight flush (50:1).
I guess the lesson is always play the bonus when the dealer tells you. On the plus side, I did play it the next hand. Surprisingly, I didn't get a straight or better.
Nonetheless, here is my roll after making it home:
This is about +$200, which covered food/drinks/hotel and a bit of my travel. A resounding success, especially considering where I was after day 2.
Anyways, after four days in which I slept about 12 hours total. I made it home around 5pm yesterday and then promptly passed out for 14 hours. The human body is amazing. Keep on truckin' 2+2.
