I’m going to to Vegas in early-mid November for the World League Poker Convention. (Bunch of free leagues descend upon Vegas for national qualifying tournaments.) Based at The Orleans.

Haven’t been to LV since I was 21. Short story: drunk fish, lost money.

Now I’m a winner and want to know where the fish play. Based on my experience it was MGM and Planet Hollywood. Anywhere else a tourist trap? I have comps from MGM National Harbor so any reason to go to MGM is a plus.

I play 1/3 here and heard the 1/3 is like 2/5 in Vegas in terms of how deep it plays. True? I doubt skill is as bad though....

Finally, I play ss and if I try 2/5 it will be for the minimum BI. Anyone know of good short stackers in Vegas 2/5? Squid mentioned someone named MartaGdynia? Looking to strat talk.

Im going to vegas late october early november. As far as game quality and deepness. Ive gotten the impression there is many diffrent games at the same stake that play bigger or smaller depending on buy in cap which varies from room to room. Encores 1/3 500 cap seems like it would play at a similair tstack depth to bellagio 2/5 500 cap. I hope some vegas locals could verify this for me. I would assume encore and the other bigger rooms in on the strip have tougher opponents because of this.Regardless i would prefer to play at these rooms(bellagio, venetian, encore, aria) because with the amount of tables available. You could just keep changing tables untill you find the drunk donkey that you are bound to find in vegas somewhere. Honestly i would prefer to shortstack 2/5 than play 1/3. Interested to hear some live short stack strategy as well.

Lol. I almost added “(other than the Orleans)” in my post but ended up not. Trust me I’ll be playing cash at the Orleans when I’m not in the tournaments.

Highly recommend Bellagio 2/5 capped at 500. Still the only room I've ever played 2/5 in, for that very reason!

Thanks! I’ll add Bellagio to the list. Seems like with a 100bb cap short stacking is very doable and profitable.

Found that there's usually at least one mega donator at the table in the 1/2 at MGM. I run terribad there, but the games are easy. Bellagio, Wynn, and Aria are all good places to play. Aria seems to skew slightly younger with the crowd.

Big auto convention in town 1st weekend in Nov at LVCC so poker rooms north strip should be pretty good.

Most hotel rooms at Mirage/Bellagio/Aria/Vdara are already very high the week of Halloween and some comped offers for high tiers were not even available 3 months out.

Thanks! I currently have my room at The Orleans where the tournaments are held but may extend my visit to grind for a week or two at the fine properties you mentioned. Anyone have good ideas for where to stay that is low cost? Airbnb? I have hundreds of comps from MGM too. If anyone will be in town early November and wants to rent a room for cheap to make the Vegas grind dream a reality or split an Airbnb PM me.
