I played at Venetian tonight and then walked to Harrahs at midnight. The games didn’t look good and they told me the freeroll had 55 in it. I guess the extra hours didn’t upset too many of them.

The funny thing is Venetian will be dead again in February as it was in November and December surrounding the big October and January high hand promotions. The screwed up nature of it though is that the promotion Venetian is running this month (despite the fact it’s 800$ less than high hand) is statistically about 9 times more likely for any given player to hit but people only see the monetary amount. Not the odds.

I like the high hand promotion because it forces the nits to play hands. Random table drawings allow them to just sit and take up a seat.

Will be in Vegas next week and was looking at Flamingos Freeroll as an option for Friday. I have some questions I hope you all can answer.

1: How many people normally enter the free roll?

2: What time does the bubble normally burst? I fly out Friday afternoon and if I wont reach the bubble I will spread my play elsewhere.

3: What time does the tournament normally finish?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong as it's been a few weeks since I played it, and I don't pay that much attention to the time; my schedule is pretty flexible.

Average number of runners is around 100, plus or minus 20, with the standard deviation around 8.

The bubble goes off a little more than 2 hours in, so 12:30-ish. Final payout is around 4 to 4 1/2 hours in.

I agree that it's nice to see promo money going to fish over nits on average.

But I don't recall seeing many nits open up their game to actually chase the high hands much.

I did hear flamingo switched to 9max tables, that is a nice thing to punish the nits a little bit.

Not to mention relieve some of the discomfort issues in that room.

One day i'll make it past 70th in the ballys mtt. Pretty sure I was first out tonight.

Anybody know roughly what the new structure is. I did hear Chris the manager say something about it going to 12 hours to qualify now.

I went out in 82nd, second whiff in a row after Harrahs on Thursday. 12 hours is the min. 15 hours will still get you +$3000 chips. I don't know how it works beyond that.

Coming to Vegas March 12-26. Get in late on the 12th and prob won't start my grind til Wed 3/13.

Would like to play 2 free rolls the first week and 2 or 3 the second week.

Staying at MGM the first half of trip and Excalibur the second half.

Suggestions for which promos to shoot for?

Tentatively thinking I would try for Flamingo and Ballys the first week. Second week will be more flexible as I'll have Monday and Tuesday to be able to grind.

Harrahs floor told me plo counts towards high hands and freeroll. Anyone want to start a plo game for next weeks promo grind? Me and a friend are in, probably need at least 4 more players for them to run it.
