FYI, you can grind the 50 TC the day before also if you prefer. Grind Thursday night, pick up Friday.

I got involved with a bet between two other promo grinders: 1:10 that the Hard Rock will temporarily reopen at least one poker table during the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo this week. I took the 'will open' side.

It was explained to me that the tables back when the Hard Rock used to offer poker were always busy during the Expo, for whatever reason, so there might be an incentive to temporarily reopen them.

If anyone's going to the AVN, lmk if they're playing poker or not there. Tx.

That Charlie Brown -EV is funny. That has been me since I moved here 3 years ago. I now have over 120 hours at South Point and have been playing 1/3 Aria and B.

So many casinos doing 100+ hour promos now. Redrock, Orleans, southpoint.

Those who have been or are doing these promos? Does the promo money make up for the bad games?

personally, I dont think it makes up. I would rather have all my options open for game selection then forced to grind half my hours in mediocre games when there is likely more action to be found right down the street.

I grind the PH promo somewhat often only because the games there are pretty consistent

It can if you are very diligent with choosing when you play these rooms. Something you could do is just pick the best 1 or 2 of these weekly promos and grind it, only playing during the evenings/weekends, especially right away the weekly freeroll when the other regs go home/disperse to finish hours at other properties.

And then just play non promo rooms at the times you'd like to play that you know wont be good at promo rooms so you have table selection options.

But overall I'd say I'd only go back to it if I had a secondary reason to do it like:

1. Needing TR points to maintain diamond
2. BR is down to a danger zone level like 2k-3k range.
3. Some promo is unusually high $/hr value

I really hated having to wake up at 9am on thurs/fri, kinda threw me off for the whole weekend, esp if a good table manifested on thurs/fri night and I wanted to stay and play it out.

Did not play for the 1st time in months. I had not cashed the last 3 times I played including the Monday freeroll after cashing at least 13 times in a row. Definite time for a break. And to be honest, I really dont miss it. Have been putting in hours at tournaments around town instead and getting some cheap tourny practice in at WSOP. Just seems like better and better players are playing at Harrah's. Rarely any drunks. Dunno maybe I just suck but I'd rather play in advantageous situations and lately I havent found Harrah's to be that for cash.

Agreed. You are going to get into a better game at Wynn 1/3 than you will on average at Flamingo or Harrah's. Now that is not to say there arent good games at Flamingo, because there are. You just have to be there at the right time. It's all hit or miss. And you have to be able to get up from the table once you realize the game isnt good, which I am not very good at. Which kinda defeats the purpose since you are there for a good game AND to get into the freeroll.

Overall I'd say no. However if you are talking about the Orleans 100 hours by the end of February, I'd say that would probably be worth it as you'll qualify for 2 freerolls with total prize pool of $75k. Plus you get paid on top of the hourly comps. So IMO that is worth it. Am I going to do it myself? I dunno. I can get 100 easy in February but still havent decided yet.

I played at Venetian tonight and then walked to Harrahs at midnight. The games didn’t look good and they told me the freeroll had 55 in it. I guess the extra hours didn’t upset too many of them.

I happened to be playing at the Orleans 7pm tourny last week and noticed an ex Harrah's/Flamingo reg grinding the cash tables. He's a good player and from the very little interaction I've had with him, he seems like a smart guy. That told me everything I needed to know.

Orleans is a freeroll room now too. He may be playing both.

Yea I've been playing a lot at orleans lately. But i wouldn't recommend it if you only play NLHE.

If you happen to be skilled at o8 and lhe then it's probably worth doing the 100 hr freeroll there.

From what little I've played of the 1/3nl games they aren't that great compared to other places.

I going to qualify for Harrahs this week just because the games are so good on the strip now so I’ll grind some daytime hours for the freeroll. I am here right now. Flamingo is 10 handed still right? Those tables are too small.

They went 9 handed at the beginning of the year.

I asked someone last week that plays in Flamingo freeroll every week and he said there were 80-something runners, so the interest has died off from the first one which got 120-something.

98 runners at the Bally's FR. I went out in 22nd for $300. I was pretty happy, as the next pay jump wasn't until 10th, but as I was leaving I heard some chatter about a chop at 20 players

I didn't stick around long enough to hear if the chop went off or not.

Bricked the Bally’s freeroll, not by playing but by sleeping in for a 5pm start time. The freeroll grind might not be for me.
