Has the 12 hour requirement reduced the number of qualifiers?

Ballys had 88 entrants a few weeks ago. With their 5 1700 circuit main event seats added to the prize, they ended up getting just about 100 last saturday.

Btw I noticed most everyone when given the option of getting a $200 wsop credit vs $150 cash ended up taking the cash. Take the credits. They can be sold later for almost 1 to 1 value to tourney grinders.

Heh, I've always had a very hard time selling lammers at the WSOP. Since the $200 can't be lammers because they are only $500, it's probably a paper/electronic credit that can't be transferred.

New development at the Flamingo: Up until recently, if you were clocked in at a cash table with your Caesar's card and you got up for a break, you would stay on the clock until you missed your blind, at which point you would be clocked out until you returned and paid your blinds.

Now, you're clocked out if you miss a single hand.

According to the floor, some of the promo nits were gaming the system by jumping off the table and staying off for every part of the orbit except for the blinds, at which point they would jump in and play, thus avoiding getting clocked out, only to jump back off again for the button through UTG part of their orbit.

First of all, I've never noticed anything like that. I've seen plenty of regs taking long breaks, but they've missed their blinds every time and were clocked out. Did anyone else notice anything like the above?

Second of all, only playing your blinds is a terrible strategy--even the best players would have their EV eaten away to the point where the freeroll would barely make up for it.

It's true that you get a fair number of 0EV chops in the blinds at $1/$2, but at some of the more loose passive tables, you can go an entire session without a blinds chop, so you can't rely on always chopping by any stretch.

According to the floor, Flamingo is the only Caesar's property so far with the single hand clock-out policy, but I could see a policy like this spreading to the other properties, as it's good for maximizing shareholder value

Good grief, then what do you do for 15 minutes waiting for the blinds? Lose money at video poker? Seems a lot easier to just stay in your seat and fold.

The explanation is a bluff from the Flamingo floor that doesn't tell a believable story imo. Maybe it might be a mathematically non-disastrous play if you played your button and cutoff, then took 2-4 hands off, then came back for your blinds--adding in the non-zero chance for 0EV chops in the latter--but it sounds utterly exhausting to me over the course of 18 hours/week.

South Point has been that for awhile now. Today I was playing and went up to the board to ask for a table change. I missed only one hand in middle position. When I got back to the table my light was flashing. Once the next hand was dealt she put me back in the game as an active player.
It makes it tough on the dealers too since they work for tips. Now they have a player upset with them for lobbying them when they didn’t miss a blind yet. BTW SP is the only free roll I have qualified for in the last 6-7 weeks. I’ve been mostly playing 1/3.

Any decent new promos for April? I see Rio is back on the free roll circuit.

Been trying to get a PLO game running at harrahs last 3 nights. PLO counts for the hours, is 2x tier/comp, and eligible for high hands. Got 8 on the list but they were short dealers 2 nights ago.

Hi all: 1/2 NL “Tourist” from the East Coast, here. Staying Four nights at the Four Queens(has a nice ring to it, no?).
Is my best bet to play only at the Nugget or should I check out any of the other rooms on the Strip? No offense, but the last thing I want to do is to feed the promos for all you “locals”.

Just as I thought I was done grinding 1/2 with the $5 and $2 rake and only playing 1/3 at Bellagio, Aria and Wynn I make day 2 of the SouthPoint freeroll. They are trying to suck me back in to the promos lol

Trooper is doing the Harrah's bi monthly free roll, seems like a good value with 2 people up top getting WSOP 10k packages. Would be fun to play for at least a shot at one of those seats.

No offense taken, locals know they only exist to provide tourists someone to play with when they come to town. They are programmed to provide you with an unforgettable poker vacation.

Sort of like Yul Brynner in the 1973 Westworld film. .... where nothing can possibly go wrong.

Holy crap, a freeroll tournament that lasts 2 days! It must be the slowest freeroll structure in history.

I will never forget, 6 or 7 years ago when Caesars had a free roll that you needed x amount of hours to qualify. I think 100 hours over a 2-3 month period. I would never have played those hours there if not for the Free roll that was going to be pretty good structure.

They posted the structure sheets from the beginning, on tournament day they suddenly change it to a complete donk fest/shove fest tourney. That was a real scumbag thing to do.

Thinking about it again now, I should have called gaming on them. Probably some loophole on the sheet tho like, TD has the right to modify the tournament at any time or something like that.

I made day 2 of South Point and won $400. My friend though was in the final chop and made $7000. 45 minute levels in day 2 was very surprising for a freeroll.

I guess if I am faced with the choice of locals or ‘Bots, I will have to settle for some local action. Played in Vegas last year (mostly @ MGM) and didn’t find any “soft” games. IME, Vegas games are tough, even at the lower levels. Again, no offense intended, but not sure why I am traveling cross country to play poker inVegas when N.H. and CT games are just as good if not better. Guess I will go for a drive in the desert and look around.

Recommend Valley of Fire for a drive in the desert.
