I don't need to work more than 3 days a week if I'm able to play 2 days a week. That makes a 5 day work week. ducy?

But Chip, surely in your financial situation you’re not gonna play poker? Beating the game for $7 an hour really isn’t worth the risk of ruin

No. Not at this point. I was referring to the original plan.

Oddly my back is in more pain when I am not dealing. I coast through the night for the most part.

that seems like a horrible idea.

i moved here with a big bankroll and multiple years of living expenses back in 2004 and still felt scared I'd be homeless.
This is exactly the type of thinking that successful people understand and respect.
It keeps your work ethic strong and your motivation high.

If you are not motivated to work with the prospect of being homeless looming then clearly you have some issues.

I personally grew up very poor so have always been motivated to not going back to that situation ever again.

This held up well.

The man knows his flaws, there's no value in pointing them out to him.

To the OP thank you for sharing your story and good luck.

Welcome to Texas. How is it treating you? How are you getting by without work?

Are you in Houston? Can’t imagine any halfway competent dealer not finding work.

TBC or anyone can comment on what rooms are currently most busy? 52, Prime Social, Lions? I don’t know haven’t played in over a year but sure someone knows.

52 Social is hiring dealers now for their new club opening in Clear Lake

I really think you should work on your mental health. I wasn't in a good spot and had so many problems that I thought were there because **** this world and was probably going to eventually kill myself, but I went to therapy and it changed my life and saved me.

From what I know it seems like you have a lot to live for and a lot of life left, and I suspect most, if not all of the problems in your life exist because of mental health.

I'm not trying to be an ass and I know you don't know me, but I've heard about you and your story makes me really sad. There are countless cases of people completely turning their lives around because of therapy, and I can't recommend it enough. With your given situation I'm sure you qualify for medicaid, and I'm sure there are also free options for people in your situation.

Good post 67.

I would add physical health too Chip - you really need to drop some lbs and exercise more. I just can’t see how losing weight and being more active won’t help your back and your breathing issues. Plus it will in turn help your mental health - being active is the one thing that’s kept me sane this year in the face of a variety of fairly significant life issues

Either way. A **** year for you mate and I wish you better outcomes next year.

Did you get a job in Austin? Seems to be much less rooms there and probably more applicants as it tends to attract the types that would be interested in a dealing job.

Chip, if you are going to insist that you can only work as a dealer, you need to do the things 67 and FW said, but also include practicing dealing. You've barely dealt in the last year and are most likely rusty.

Top shelf poast 67o. I am happy you are doing well and trying to be a positive influence. Stuff like this helps me keep faith in humanity during these crazy times.

Agree with all that has been posted. I would also argue that poker or the gambling world generally seems like a bad place for most people to be (Chip included)

Thank you.

One thing I want to add - obviously being more active and losing weight is in your best interest, but that may seem to be too difficult/you may lack any real motivation. This is exactly why I think seeing a therapist is mandatory; by making strides in mental health doing other necessary things like losing weight and exercising will be exponentially easier than they are now. You'll also have a lot more motivation.

If you forced yourself to lose weight and exercise you'll feel better, but it won't get to the root of the problem.

i have thought a lot in recent times about just committing myself. i have done therapy via text but its short and not enough.

Yeah, don't do that. I would look for a therapist with the best reviews possible in your area and not be afraid to shop around. There are so many amazing therapists, but unfortunately lots of horrible ones too that make people shy away. Please don't stop trying. There's definitely one that can change things around; both my therapist and cousin's wife have seen people in worse situations than yours do a full 180.

EDIT: by "committing," I really hope you mean "committing to therapy"
