Backround

I´m a german poker player in my fourties from germany. So dont judge me because of my low english writing skills:-). Played a lot of poker during university (mostly Cashgame)
And some smaller tournaments in our city with some wins, but no lifechanging prizes.
Played cg online during my university means 8-10 tables 😊 I wouldnt say that I played for living, but it was enough for no side-jobs.
In my twenties life changed (job, family, kid) so I quit online poker (and realized, that I was not good enought to beat the players anymore) and played poker sometimes.

Honestly its too early for starting the blog. But I´m hyped, I still have a couple of weeks until my trip.

It´s my 11th trip to Vegas. This time I´m travelling alone, so if theres a community for playing padel, golf or soccer, please contact me 😊

My last time in vegas was in 2019 before the pandemic. Played a couple of tournaments, and cashed in a DS event.
I also played some 1k WSOP events with no cash.

This year I will finish one point at my bucket list and will play the famous Main Event!!!

Plan

Flight is booked and will take me from Frankfurt to Vegas directly.
Arriving at 4/7 Thursday I will relax and make some preparation for the ME, including buying food etc.
I didnt booked the hotel yet, because my head says Encore again (stayed there alone at my last trip in 2019) but honestly I realized that I didnt need the expansive hotels at a solo trip and ist a little bit far away from Paris/Horsehoe. My heart is bumping for the Flamingo. Stayed there some days, pretty decent hotel, love the pool area and people there and the price is good. And ist very close to the main event area.
Maybe I will book in the next days.

Pokerwise I will play a lot of poker😊 Cashgame 2/5 at the Bellagio or Wynn.
I made some shots at the online qualifier at GG poker. Unfortunately I ended up 2nd at the 525 and missed the package at my very first attempt.
Think I need to buyin directly.

This is my tournament plan for the trip:

7/5 Friday Ultimate Stack at V 1.600 $
7/6 Main Event 1D 10.000 $
7/7 Event 85 Ultra Stack 600 $
7/8 Ultimate Stack at Venetian 1.600 $
Maybe some qualifier for Wynn Classic 2.200 $ or Daily at Aria Poker Classic.
But I´m focused at the Main Event for sure😊

Hope someone is interested in this trip report. If you have any question, please ask.
I will play all this events on my own, just give a little share to my friends for sweating.
Also thought about selling some % here, but I´m pretty sure, nobody will buy😊

A problem with your plan: when you're dominating the ME, it will be tougher to play in those other tournaments you mention.

GL, safe travels. Looking forward to the TR when it comes.

In terms of hotel, I've found Flamingo is just fine. It's clean, close to WSOP, a good place to crash between sessions.

Good luck!

I’m always floored by how many languages people from Europe can speak. I’ve studied Spanish off and on practically my whole life, but don’t practice it regularly, and I can barely ask where the bathroom is.

Meanwhile people like the Dutch, for example, are like yeah I speak 5 languages pretty well, and can get by with two more.

Back in the '70's there was a German kid that was on temporary transfer to my high school. I mentioned his English was pretty good. He said his school started compulsory English classes in the 6th grade.

Thx guys.
Yeah, got no problem with dominating the ME and skipping all the other tournaments.
We‘ll see. This ME is a load of work, playing nearly 12 hours a day.

But I definately need a plan b when I‘m busting
I play to win, not for a min cash.

I started learning english very late at 5th grade. Learned english with music and tv.
Also I studied in english which helps a lot.
But the key to success is to conversate.
And thats hard, I only speak english in my holidays.
Thats what I love in Vegas, first day I ashamed because of my english skills, then I realize, that most people understand me, then I‘m more relaxed.
I also learned spanish and french in school, but now I couldnt speak a correct sentence.

Think english is very important. Our son started english education with 4 years.

Non-Poker-Content

My problem in Vegas is always the same.
The city is soaking me in...like a chewing gum on the floor, it´s not possible to get me off and follow my plans.
In my first trips I had so much plans for activities...I never did.
So I stopped making big plans.

Last solo trip in 2019, I had a very nice room in the Wynn. The view from my room was awesome and I could see the party at encore beach every time.
But I wasnt able to put on some nice clothes and go down for a party. Pooltime? Only a few hours:-)

So what the hell I did in a week in Vegas?
Daily routine was the same, putting on my nicest jogging pants, go for breakfast at Urth Cafe (really nice) and then joing the poker table at the wynn.
Ordering lunch and dinner at the table and leaving late in the night to my room and saw all the party people going to XS or Encore Beach.

I think this trip will be the same, but foccussing more on the WSOP and tournament poker.
Only think I wanna expirience for sure is the sphere, but I need to buy tickets in advance^^
