No wonder they let him stay from 2010-2014...he wasn't taking up much room.

does anyone know about the parking garages. are there some free garages on the strip where people could stealth camp like in a van or truck camper or even a car? has anyone done that? or what about just the regular casino parking lots- is it possible to do that in those lots also?

Free parking garages on the Strip are very limited these days anyway. The Miracle Mile Shops might be the only option if you want to right next to center Strip.

Based on previous personal experience, sometimes you don't even have enough time to smoke a joint before somebody knocks on your window.

But I guess if you have a camper truck or van and avoid getting noticed when entering the vehicle, that might work? That also might depend on the level of video surveillance that garage has.

A+, can’t believe I missed this.

Most parking garages will be too low. IIRC the full sized van I rented was 7 ft tall and some garages have 7 ft or less clearance. Some low hanging pipes came awfully close to putting a cleavage in the roof. No chance a camper would fit.

for those of you in the area, what about random side streets? i know crime may be an issue, but assuming you could have a way of dealing with it. surely there are plenty of side streets and random lots where no one would bother to pry into the business of a van or camper parked by itself?

some Walmarts may allow overnight parking but stealth camping can be hit or miss. There was a lot just north/east of Main Street Station (under the overpass) that security let us park overnight a few years back

So here we are a couple years later and I'm planning on doing the same thing I'm driving out in my van with the bed in back was wondering what you found to be the best spots planning on playing at the Orleans because they have great rakeback Right now so that they let you stay in RVs was thinking the van would be okay just wondering what you found to be best

If you have a van don't park with the RVs. Park with the cars and blend in. Don't park in the same casino for more than one night. Rotate Orleans, Palms, Gold Coast, and Palace Station for different nights. Google/Youtube "stealth parking/camping" and "Bob Wells".

There's an area just west of the red rock casino (about 1-2 miles) by the spill way... at any one day there are between 10 and 20 campers and vans parked there. You can't miss it once you get past the high school.

If it's a big van be careful of parking garages. Some have low ceilings.

Desert Inn/Valleyview there’s industrial complexes around those cross streets that are pretty chill and as long as you don’t make a scene no one will mess with you. Stayed around there for a year during the pandemic in my 40’ D.P with no hassles. Cesars is just across the freeway and if you like Asian food your set.

I don't have any experience in vanlife but it seems GTO that people who want to do vanlife in Vegas to do it in a soccer mom van like a minivan or one of those small transit vans. They can park anywhere in any casino and won't even be on the radar for security and enforcement. Camouflage instead of sticking out. Commonsense.

Yeah, many full sized vans are 7 feet high and some parking garages have lower ceilings than that even if the signs say 7'. The downside is you can't get anywhere near standing room in a minivan. The small Ford Transit or Nissan thing have much more space. I suspect used ones are harder to find and more expensive than minivans though.

I see a lot of single female van owners traveling thru the area exercising the vagabond lifestyle.

Security will kick you out, almost guaranteed.

If they don't know someone's sleeping in that soccer mom van, then they won't even know there is someone there to boot out.

You are simply seriously wrong about "won't even be on the radar" for security.

I say that after about 30 years in Las Vegas and working a few as GC for a casino. NO hotel security will miss someone parked in a van overnight. If you get permission that's different and I think a couple of places have RV parking as an amenity.

Pay for an RV park if you don't have overnight permission.

You would have a better chance of staying overnight in a parking lot of a retail mall, but also better chance of being robbed or your van vandalized.

I want to buy a class b van to live in... any pointers? I plan on playing at aria and moving out and in the garage daily for gym. Hoping to live in it for like 3 years but just starting my research on it. Any pointers happily taken.

You have zero f**king idea about what you are opining on.

You seriously think casino security would not notice a van parked overnight, or the lights inside, or the comng and goings therefrom.

Have you EVER even been to Las Vegas ?

According to some stealth campers on Youtube:

Rule 1. Never park in the same location two nights in a row.

Rule 2. Once you park, never leave your vehicle till you exit the parking lot the following morning. If you have to physically leave your vehicle to, for instance, take a poop inside the establishment, don't go back to sleep. Go somewhere else and finish your sleep elsewhere. For men, learn to pee into a bottle so that peeing won't cause you to exit the vehicle at night.

Rule 3. Have limo tint in the back. Be sure no light (cell phone, laptop, tablet) inside the vehicle can be seen from the outside.

Rule 4. No part of your body (not even a pinky) must be visible from the outside.

If the van lifer is in a soccer mom van and practice the above rules, the chances of getting booted out would be close to zero.

I've seen this stuff come up on YT and it's always like 8's and 9's perfectly manicured and otherwise doing hotgirl stuff. I dont buy it. Would bet money it's all an act and they have standard dwellings elsewhere.

Dont get a van, get a Tesla so you can use camp mode to run climate control nonstop. That is the #1 problem with vanlife IMO, sleeping. Too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter, and there is no good solution to any of it that doesnt involve air conditioning. Vans dont blend in anywhere. You can park a Tesla at any random apartment complex or city street and go totally unnoticed. Learn to minimize and live life outside the vehicle instead of trying to create an entire home out of it with stoves, running water, bathroom, etc.
