Today at the wheel-e-oh

I see five people camped there.

Looks like a couple VERY serious van 4 life'rs.

Try this site.https://freecampsites.net/

If you have a National Park Pass (or buy a Lake Mead NRA pass), you can stay out at Lake Mead for free. There are several areas with designated free camping on the North shore of the lake. Limited facilities down some of the roads, with 1 or 2 week limits on staying in each particular area. Depending on the season, you will meet more than a few full-time and part-time RVers out there. I tent-camped there for ~8 months when I first came to LV. There are also some paid campsites there as well.

Closer to the strip, you can also try the lot behind Ballys. There is an entrance to it off of Flamingo close to the Caesars Entertainment Employment center. There are always several small to large RVs in there, along with occupied not-quite-stealthy vans.

I believe that overnight camping is illegal in the Las Vegas metro area, so you might have a problem at the Ballys' and store parking lots (WM, Bass Pro, etc.). That said, no one will bother you if you sleep there during the day.

Good luck.

Good, credible-sounding write up ... hope OP pays attention.

If I was still single I would definitely do something like that. Probably would try to find something other than a van with black windows and black out curtains though because they stand out like a sore thumb. If with a van, I'd think about putting a fake business name on the side like "Jeff The Tree Doctor" or "Gary's Patios" to look less obvious, maybe even switch out the names after a few days.

I would probably try to get a room any time it was cheap say under $30 or $40 per night inclusive of resort fees. Maybe even stay in rooms weekdays while staying in the van during the more expensive weekends.

Resort fees alone anywhere near the Strip are $35-$45, and then parking another 10 or 20 bucks.

Yeah was thinking off strip or maybe Caesar's with diamond, right now I can get rooms for $10/night pretty much every weekday.

I've seen there is a collection of people... 'RV'ing'... on Westwood behind rolling smoke and about a few hundred yards from planet13, REEF and about a 1/2 mile from ceasars. You'll have to fight of the tweakers and homeless though.

there is a newer collection of 'van lifers' assembling on Charleston as you enter the red rock area... right on the left side of the road at the reservoir. 3 minutes to RR casino

On this note, if you are looking for a several month option, you can get the Founders Card for I think $300 a year. This will give you Diamond and will give you free parking at Caesars properties and also no resort fees. Sun-Thurs night rooms are currently $10 a night at Bally's, Linq, Flamingo, Harrahs, and Rio. These rates are at least through July so if you want to split time between a camper and hotels, this would be an awesome option.

Several nights of saved resort fees are worth the $300 investment in my opinion.

Barclays Wyndham is $95/year and auto matches to CET diamond plus you get 45K bonus points for those sweet free rooms. 8x on gas and $$ spent on Wyndham properties

Source? Wyndham website indicates you need to spend 9 nights at Wyndham hotels to achieve Platinum level and status match at Caesars

Your $10 rate made me go to the website. I was surprised to find out first off I"m still Platinum second off I saw I had a bunch of days COMPED, including some Friday nights. But then reality sets in with the Caesars BS in the fact 1. I cant book more than 10 nights in a row (edit: saw the small print at the bottom to call if i want to book more than 14 nights) 2. It's not as it seems ex: If I book Sun-Thurs all nights are comped, but if I try to add on that Friday, they hit me with a $119 rate instead of the listed $20 rate on the calendar. If I START my stay with that Friday, I'll get a $20 rate for that Friday, $26 for Saturday, then Mon-Wed comped.

Bottom line the best deal I can get is Sun-Thurs all comped, but of course I still get charged the resort fee of yikes it's now $37. So I get 5 nights for $198. Anyway, I was excited to see all those comped nights I had then when you consider the taxes they charge on my $0 room rate plus the resort fees, $40 a night is still good but not as good as free lol.

But yeah it sounds like that Founders Club would be a great deal for someone that wants to RV part time and rent rooms on Mon-Thurs.

Back in the day (2010) the Orleans let us camp in the parking lot in my 45" motor home...that ended back in like 2014 or so.

I still camp at casinos in Laughlin, Mesquite, Primm, as well as any Indian Casino along the Pacific Coast.

Do this, and you'll be somewhere peaceful and pretty when you're not doing strip stuff. You'll have a commute, but whatever, it beats being in some city parking lot by miles and miles of life quality. I've done a lot of Vanlifing. Being in camping spots, paid or unpaid, that are nice and scenic has so much value over being in some parking lot in town. Vanlifing in a city parking lot is not far off from being a homeless bum in terms of life quality. Whereas being in a park or recreation area is lovely, it's what many 9-5'ers try to get away and do on their weekends and vacations. There's cell service at Lake Mead too.

That is a tiny motor home. I did not know they made them smaller than 12 feet.

Much less carbon footprint when under 4 feet.
