Heading to Vegas jan 25th for almost a week. Looking forward to Wynn and Venetian tournament series. Also playing mostly 1/3 nl cash. My question is I would like to play some plo for first time live. Suggestions on where to play? How friendly are tables to new guys ? Is it tough to adapt to pot bets etc? Does dealer figure out pot ? Anything I can do to prepare ? Also looking for an app to track wins and losses , suggestions ?

For low cost "beginner" PLO your best option is at Flamingo. Dealer was good at totalling pot. Generally it was "pot" or "fold" at my table, with crazy swings

I havent seen the PLO game at Flamingo run in months.

I'd probably go to Aria and play in the 1/2 PLO game there.

Raising to pot size: 3x last players bet/raise + pot size before last players bet/raise https://www.pokerstrategy.com/strate...ot-size-raise/

Yes, the dealers I have encountered at Aria are good about helping new players.

To prepare, I'd just read up on some general strategy.

Don't feel intimidated....at least the time I played at Aria there were only 2 competent players at the table the rest were spewing off their chips w/ very loose starting hands. Like yourself I was a complete noob at live PLO and got into the swing of things in an orbit.

If no Flamingo games are going, you are pretty much stuck with Aria and Wynn. I'd go to Aria first because there are usually more tables going. Both places have lots of regs, and they will mostly be friendly, but not cardwise.

I recommend playing tight and only top hands. Seriously. Don't chase non-nuts unless you get some amazing read on a player.

Dealer will tell you the pot if you ask, but remember to say, "How much is in the pot?" and not "Pot?" We had a bad experience at our table with someone doing that.

If you want to get your feet wet, go to the Orleans for some limit play.

Thanks for the feedback. I will check out the aria. The live betting will be a change from online sounds like it won’t be too bad to adjust

I was finally able to make it to Vegas at the beginning of April. I waited until last night to finally play 1 - 3 plo at aria. Bought in for the min $200 to get a feel for the game. Got all in first hand of course. Chopped running two boards. I had nuts he had draws.
Anyway staff and other players were all great and helpful. In for the minimum out for $1365. Got me hooked. I plan on giving it back next trip.

Ps wanted to post chip stack pictures. Cannot figure it out

It's PLO, someone always has draws and/or someone always has the nuts .... often the same someone.... glad you enjoyed it
