Two Swedes going to Vegas 6-13th July Two Swedes going to Vegas 6-13th July

Hello!

So I promised myself that this summer I wouldn't go to Vegas. Then Ludde came to Gothenburg (Sweden) and visited and somehow a hungover Ludde managed to convince me to book Vegas. Because of our severe hungover we managed to book some extremely stupid dates, at first we miss 4th of July (which I guess is pretty wild in Vegas?) and the second is that most of our friends in Vegas are going to play WSOP Main event and it basically starts when we arrive? I called our travel agent and asked if we could change the return date and they said "Of course, we charge 100$ each for change and then British Airways charge 3k$", don't really understand how they can take 3k$ to CHANGE the tickets like 2 days further, when we can rebook a single ticket for like 400-450$ each. Oh well.

First two trips i've stayed at Vdara (loved it!!!) but this time we decided to stay at MGM Grand, closer to pool parties and feels like the crowd is a lot younger than Vdara hehe!

Last trip we made this big list with things we were supposed to do, and I think we did like one or two things on that list. This time we are going to pre-book some things, so that we don't find any excuses while over there.

I've done a TR on my previous trips as well, link down below.

Cliffs on us;
Me
I'm a 24 y/o student, third time in Vegas, going to play 2/5$ Hold'em and there is a 10 % chance that i'll skip my flight back home and play the WSOP Main Event (going to sell of large chuck of percent obv), it all depends on how the first days goes

Ludde
Ludde is 25 y/o and runs his own companies, second time in Vegas, going to play 5/10$+ PLO and he is more likely than me to skip the flight back home and play the Main Event.

Goals for this trip:
* Visit Grand Canyon (With helicopter)
We are going to pre-book this, because last trip we said we would do it and then all of us lost a total of 10k$+ in 24hours (we were 4 guys) and no one wanted to go to GC haha. So now we are going to book before we depart from Sweden so we can't change our minds. Where is the best to book from, and which package is GTO?

* Pool party
Last trip we were going to go to a pool party, but because of some stuff we didn't do it. Probably won't pre-book this though, of obvious reasons.

* Shoot with guns
Yeah we planned to do this last time as well, but we never got our **** together to go do it. Should we pre-book it, and where is the best place to go?

* Shows
Yeah, probably going to go and see atleast one show, I've seen Ká and Ludde has seen Ká and O, so probably something new, recommendations?

* Chopper over the city?
Do we need to do this if we go with a chopper to Grand Canyon?

A bit early to start the thread I know, but would like to get some suggestions on shows/grand canyon-tours so we can arrange them asap!

Thats all for now! Cya in July, or maybe sooner.

Käre Svenska Vänner,

May I suggest that you include a hiking trip to Red Rock? It is about 20 minutes from the Strip, magnificent scenery and a great place to hike away a hangover or walk off a bad beat.

Lycka Till

While I absolutely recommend hiking (or even just driving) Red Rock Canyon, please be careful out there! Pack water, more then you think you'll need. Temps in July in the desert are 100 degrees Fahrenheit (~38 Celsius) or better once the sun comes up. People actually die, and heat stroke/dehydration are very real concerns.

Valley of Fire (I want to say north on I-15?) is also a nice drive and has a few good hiking areas. Bit farther away from Vegas proper, but it's all interstate.

If you plan on hiking in July, make it first thing in the morning, before you start drinking alcohol. Drink lots of water, bring more then you think you'll need, wear sun protection, hats, etc.

And don't be the idiot that says "100? Big deal, I've hiked all around Georgia in 100 degrees", because Georgia doesn't have humidity <10%. That dry air sucks the water right out of you and you don't feel it.

Just last week they found a dead body in a park near Tucson that they think died from exposure.

Is it your contention that exercising in low humidity at a similar temperature is more taxing than exercising at high humidity?

If so, this is a bad opinion.

Haha I guess you guys don't talk about absinthe as in the alcohol, right? Because that sounds like something stupid that Ludde would convince me to do.

But yeah, googled it and its a show, cool! Thanks

Haha, hallå!

Yeah, the chance of me and Ludde going to go out and hike in Vegas during summer (or any time at the year) is probably close to 0%. But it sounds cool, but no chance in hell, last year we stayed at Vdara and it sucked to walk over to Aria in the summer haha

Hey guys, so as I said in the OP me and Ludde are going to pre-book the Grand Canyon-trip so we wont come up with any excuses while being there.

I've looked around on some various trips and think that this is the best options (only based by looking on some videos and photos provided by the companies).

Any thoughts?

Considering that the last time that I was Vegas around the 4th of July, it was 117 in LAS and 120 at Lake Mead, this looks like an awesome way to see the sites. Though, I have been in a helicopter twice and I was super nauseated the whole time when sitting in the rear seat. The time that I was up front next to the pilot, it was all ok. It might have been because it was reaaly windy the time that I got nauseated - but the nausea was totally unecpected.

Just something to consider if either of you have sensitive stomachs.

24h until take off!
Ludde arrived in Gothenburg yesterday and we went out partying! Plan now is to stay up until our flight, and then sleep on the London-Vegas flight.

Oh, we also extended our trip. On the 13th we are going to New York for 4 days, and then either home or Miami

Touchdown London!
4 hours here until the flight to Vegas.

Since both of us had slept like 2 hours the last 24 hours we decided to go to the No.1 lounges and relax a bit! Two Swedes going to Vegas 6-13th July

This is a great thread.

IF you will be renting a car and are still looking for a place to shoot off some guns, I highly recommend the outdoor public range run by Clark County. You can rent guns and buy rounds there. The setting beats the hell out of indoor ranges and it's really inexpensive.

http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/parks/P...ting-park.aspx

OTOH if what you really want to do is fire off machine guns, you already booked one a lot closer to the Strip.

btw, recreational marijuana is now legally for sale in Las Vegas, although there are weird rules (like no smoking it in a hotel-casino ?) ....would recommend edibles if you need to be discreet.

Have a good last flight and take uber if you are not getting a car.

Thanks guys! Glad you enjoy it

So we meet two Swedish guys in the airport lounge at Heathrow and we took a uber with them from the airport.

Thankfully I managed to get a Mlife gold card last trip so we didnt have to queue for like an hour to check in. And our new friends (from heathtrow) followed along on my gold card and they gave us the rooms next to each other (meaning that they got upgraded to the Grand tower)

Just relaxed at the MGM pool for like 3 hours, wow the heath though? And now me and Ludde are getting ready to go hit the tables, and maybe hooking up with our other friends later on for dinner (they are playing the 3k$ wsop-event)

Haha so after the pool we went up to the room and got changed and hooked up with some of our friends that have spent the whole summer here.

Took a cab over to Venetian and then tried to locate Sushi Samba, like 10 minute walk up and down and right then left and finally we found it.

First time for both me and Ludde at Sushi Samba so we let the pro's decide on what to order and they waiters just came with new food all the time.

After a nice 1-1.5 hour of eating and talking they had to go back to the 1600$ Wynn tournament and we discussed on how to settle the bill.

I'd promised myself to not flip any dinner bills in Vegas, if anyone has read my previous TRs you know that I basicly lose every single flip, but who am I do deny when the rest want to flip it, sure I can buy out but laaame.

So there are we, a group of six, 2 of them being top 5 on pocketfives leaderboard, one being a successful entrepreneur and the other two also famous pokerplayers... and one student... If there is any kind of god I would obviously not have to lose the flip, right? RIGHT?

Turns out I have to work on my karma because obviously I lose the flip instant. Leaving the rest of them laughing.. "I knew it, hahaha..." said one of them laughing.

Ohwell, the food was 5/5 and the best i've eaten in Vegas ever.. so who cares!

Ohwell, off to Aira now for some breakfast and then gambooool
