Bar food, it is what it is.

But they do deliver on their promise of scenic views.

Random strip shot.

Glutton for punishment. Eight Game Mix today.

Playing in the Amazon room.

I chipped up steadily throughout the day increasing my 10k starting stack to about 35k before a bad level 8 saw me sitting on 20k at the last break of the night.

Return from the break to find 6 time bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro has been moved into the empty seat next to me and he proceeds to win 3 Stud hands on the trot including one against me. Note to self - try to avoid tangling with one of the best Stud players in the world.

I did avoid him for the remaining time and managed to win some pots off other players and knock a short stack out in PLO to bag a slightly above average 41k.

Counting the chips to go in the bag. Guy at the far end of the table has about 80k and the old guy to my left is Jeff's official bag man so he says, as he sat down to take care of the formalities after the last hand of the night while Jeff made a swift exit.

Re-start tomorrow at 2pm.

Nice update! Hope the run good continues!

Day Seven - Monday June 10th

Lunch again at Eatily

This time is was the Lumachi with short rib rage. very nice.

The over to the Rio for the re-start of the Eight Game Mix.

Playing PLO there is a short stack all in for 5k, one other caller and I look down to find AAxx ss so I try to isolate and pot it for 18k. Guy calls. Flop 882 r
I jam my remaining stack about 20k or so and he calls of course with an 8. No help for me and Im out in 90 something with 92 paid. Felt physically sick after playing so good for a day and a half to go out almost on the bubble.

Headed back to Aria to watch the 2nd half of the Warriors-Raptors game in the sportsbook. The place was packed with the majority rooting for the Raptors.

Nice TR. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry about the bust out. Do you feel like you should have played the hand differently given where you were in the tournament?

Yes maybe I could have just flatted pre and tried to play a small pot but I thought there was a good chance the pot size raise would get him out. He had more chips than me but the call was still about 1/3 of his stack.

As played I think I have to barrel the flop.

Any other opinions?

I've never played PLO MTT but the play seems fine from a (terribad) cash game player.

IMO you do have to barrel that flop after (rightly) potting it pre. Just a terrible flop for you. TS9's WSOP Trip Report - 2019 Edition

Day Eight - Tuesday June 11th

Played the $470 PLO tournament at Aria. Arrived late and found a line of about 20 people waiting to buy-in in the sportsbook and only one person taking registrations. After eventually getting registered made my way to the tournament area only to find the same 20 people standing around waiting for people to bust so they could be seated as alternates.

When I do finally take my seat it seems the standard of play is quite soft with a lot of chips flying around and some funny hands being shown. I cannot take advantage however and am out in level 10.

My exit hand I raise pre-flop with AK98 ds and get two callers.
Flop is 2-5-6 with two spades. (I have nut flush draw with A9 spades)
It's checked to me so I pot it putting myself all in.
One caller who basically has JJxx with Jack flush draw.
Of course flush doesn't come and I don't catch an Ace, King or Seven and his pair of Jacks are good.

Cash game lists are really long and I'm not really in the mood to play anyway so grab a slice of pizza then head to Gorilla Cafe to play billiards for the rest of the day.

It's not a trip report without a slice of Five50 pizza.

I have enjoyed the trip reports, and despite some tough tourney bust outs, it is good to read about the profitable (albeit not the action games you are looking for) PLO sessions.

Day Nine - Wednesday June 12th

Last tournament of the trip, $1,000 PLO at the Rio.

Had a friendly half of the table and was happily talking with a guy from West Texas and a guy from Belgium about our families, children, differences in the relative countries etc. Unfortunately they busted and were replaced by two young guys talking about hand ranges, equity spots and **** like that. OMG please shoot me, although I do like playing poker I find talking about it extremely boring.

I win a few pots, lose a few pots and am sat on 30k at dinner break (20k starting stack) Dine at Voodoo steakhouse with my buddY Marv.

His rib-eye

My new york

Views from the terrace

My New York came out overcooked, more medium than medium rare but I didn't have time to wait for a new one so ate it. Was just meh.

Back in the tournament I get up to 50k before losing an aipf AAxx ss v AAxx ss when villain makes trips with one of his danglers and I'm left with only 10k. I should really just fold this hand whenever I get it.

I grind back up to 30k when our table breaks and am moved to a table with a huge amount of chips. There are 3 people with 200k stacks and another 3 with 100k+ stacks. No-one on my original table had more than 60k. I guess its all the luck of the draw.

The tournament directors announce we're going to play an extra level so 11 levels in total for the day plus breaks amounts to a 13+ hour day and I'm starting to feel it during the last break. Pretty tired.

I get my last 25k in on the moster stack table with a straight and flush draw on the flop and am up against just Aces. I like my chances but of course I don't hit and Aces seem to stand up for everyone except me.

Go to bed exhausted.

Day Ten - Thursday June 13th

Got a taxi to Fashion Show Mall to get some presents for wifey and the kids. Decided to walk back and took some photos on the way:

With stops at Caesars and Bellagio sportsbooks. I have no desire to play poker today but still looking to earn, decided to let Kawhi and the boys do the heavy lifting while I sit back and relax.

Caesars number is only 2.5 on the spread while Bellagio has 3. It pays to line shop. Moneyline was same at both places so put that on at Caesars as they give TR points while MGM books don't give you anything on sports bets for MLife which kinda sucks.

A light lunch of tomato soup at one of my go to places the Market Cafe at Vdara.

Before spending the afternoon playing 3 cushion at Gorilla Cafe.

Standing room only at Bellagio watching the game.

I actually much prefer watching games at Aria but wanted to be in the right place to cash my ticket

Then over to Caesars to cash the other tickets and there is still a lengthly line when I get there.

Day Eleven - Friday June 14th

My last day and again I don't really feel like playing poker. I think I overdid it a bit on the tournaments, they really took it out of me.

Hit the pool in the morning. My one gripe here is I think the music they play is too loud. Its electronic rubbish and I'd rather listen to my own music on my headphones but their music is so loud I can still hear it even with my headphones in.

Did some work on the Round 2 golf matchups at the pool and found one I liked but when I went to bet it they didn't have it at the sportsbook nor did they have the Copa America soccer I wanted to bet also. MGM sports books really suck.

3 cushion session at Gorilla Cafe in the afternoon.

Then over to Westgate before the Brazil v Bolivia soccer game started. I bet the golf matchup online (it won, Li vs Watson) but theres nothing like the feeling of having a physical ticket in your hand and going to the window to cash it.

On Under 3.5 goals. It was looking good tied 0-0 at halftime but Brazil got a penalty early in the 2nd half and when the 3rd goal went in on 85 minutes I had a nervous last 5 minutes but thankfully there was no 4th goal.

This is what a sportsbook should look like.

Being in the sports betting business I find the Superbook a thing of beauty.

So for my last meal in Vegas this trip we went for a Turkey dinner at Sid's Cafe in the Westgate and I have to say I really enjoyed it.

Took the monorail back to the strip and walked through the MGM where they are ready for tomorrow's big fight.

And that's all for this trip. Writing this before I go to the airport for my 1.30am flight.

I enjoyed being here after two years away, but as I said, think i overdid it a bit on the tournaments, but its the only time of the year I play tournament poker so wanted to get as many in as possible, but on hindsight would have been better to miss one or two.

Will be on best behavior at home for the next 11.5 months to see if I can get another pass to come next year

Until then, thanks for reading. Elvis has left the building.

Thanks for the TR. I'm off to look up Gorilla Café. My husband and I love playing pool. Would like to find some couples tourneys in Las Vegas, but I think you have to win one locally first, and they are difficult to find around here. Hubby took me to Rum Runner for my b-day this year, and we had a blast.
