Pretty exhausted right now. Played a ton of cash to no avail. Totally card dead but hope that will turn soon. Played about 6 hours at the V in a very mediocre game. Ended up down $87 when I decided I needed to eat as it had been forever since that French toast this morning.

You will never guess where I went to eat or what I got . The spicy cashew chicken was back on the menu and it was awesome! They changed the presentation and it has a few more vegetables in it but tastes the same.

For dessert I tried the 30th anniversary chocolate cheesecake and it was very good.

I didn't quite finish either the chicken or the cheesecake as they are both big portions.

After eating I went straight to Caesars poker roo.and got in a brand new game. This game was kind of wild but I still couldn't do squat and ended up losing another $36. So the poker kind of sucked again. I am pokered out for today. But it is still early. Just chilling in the room now and sipping on a tall boy. I think I will have a few more beers while low stakes gambling and maybe some vp. Will probably do the Wynn tourney tomorrow.

You have eaten very well today. That French Toast looks delicious - where at PH was it?

Planet hollywood cafe its the diner type place. Went down and sat at the bar and had a few beers while playing video poker. Not really a vp fan but it comes with free beer . I played slow and quit after 3 beers and being down 10 bucks. I gave bubble craps one more shot before retiring to the room for the evening. The dice got hot again and I was in for 100 and out for 279. So the craps portion of this trip is the only thing working.

My Sox win/Cubs lose parlay went down because I did a 3 gamer and Sox lost the first and won the second while Cubs got shutout. Maybe tomorrow?

I have a 2 day tourney strategy question. I played day 1a and today was day 1b. Today (1b) had way more entries than 1a. This is understandable since people fire multiple bullets. I am just wondering for a single bullet guy like me is it better for the smaller or larger field? What they told me was that they played down to 12%. My gut instinct is the larger field (1b) is better but just wondering what the consensus is?

I don’t think it makes much difference.

Perhaps you can argue that the first day will have more people playing a lot looser and more aggressively if they know they have more bullets.

But also you can argue that if we think the people prepared to fire multiple bullets are more likely to be regs and pros, that the later day 1s might be slightly softer as some of the best players will already have qualified

And people often also argue that the last day contains more recs and 1 bullet players will play the final entry possible to minimise the amount of time committed to the tourney

Personally I like to maximise time in between because playing 12 hour days takes it out of me and I’d rather get more sleep and recuperate in between. So eg if I ever played the ME, I would play a day 1 that would allow me a day off before day 2 and day 3 if I kept qualifying

You're probably not very far from another famous breakfast place, the Peppermill. Basically across the street from Resorts World, the degens would stumble over after a long night of gambling.

TI used to be fairly nice before that cheapskate that owned Frontier bought it. I used to stay there a lot when they had a poker room. It used to be the only Strip hotel I know of that had Molson in the bars.

My totally anecdotal answer is that the latter days tend to be bigger, with larger fields in general, but also more tough regs looking to spin up a bag. Maybe the early levels will play softer due to more shot takers while the bubble rounds will tend to be tougher with more sharks jumping in around the end of reg. Tournaments are mostly luck in general, but I do notice a predictable pattern of play getting tougher towards the bubble when the true dead money is gone and pro types are showing up at the 11th hour to fire a bullet or two. That effect might be amplified in the later flights because the regs know it's their last chance to take a punt at bagging. This is pure conjecture though.

Another thing to consider is that the chip leaders of the larger flights will have more than the chip leaders of the smaller flights, due to there being more chips in play in the larger flight.

Slept okay last night. On my morning walk I saw a pretty impressive moonrise.

Wandered around for a while and ended up at Grand Lux for breakfast. I had the breakfast quesida and it was fantastic. I had this for the first time last trip and it has landed on the must have list for future trips.

Walked around some more and spotted where the new Venetian poker room will be. It's the second level right around the corner from the Palazzo elevator bank.

After a little more walking I took my post breakfast shot at bubble craps. It didn't go well for a quick -98

Still up pretty good for craps though. Now I just need to get poker on track. Gonna hit the pool for a bit when it opens and then off to the Wynn noon tourney.

Just spent about an hour down at the TI pool. I was skeptical about the pool here but it's really nice the chairs are very comfortable and it gets really good sun exposure in the morning which is pretty much the only time I ever go to the pool I only stayed an hour because I didn't want to overdo it.

Now I'm just going to get cleaned up and get ready for the Wynn poker tournament at noon. Maybe I'll grab a snack right before the tourney starts just in case I go deep.

Always enjoy your TRs. I know you said you aren't really gambling at TI, but if you play blackjack, TI is a good spot. Lots of 3/2 tables at reasonable minimums, and even a few double deck tables.

Wasn't really hungry but grabbed a Popeyes just before tourney just in case

First break doing well. 43k from starting stack of 20k. Stacked a guy in level 3 with weak flush. He shoved and I could just feel he had dick.

Out in 6th place for $600. I think I played about as well as I could. The deck never really hit me but I made the plays I needed when I needed. Had my share of both good and bad runouts. The final hand was unavoidable. Most active and biggest stack raised my big blind to 22k at 3000/6000/6000. I was in 4th place in chips but the big stacks had double what I had. Looked down at KK and shoved and he had AA. I don't see anyway I could got away from it.

So I payed 600 in tourney entries and got 600 back. Anyway the tournament portion of this trip is over. Last day tomorrow will be cash. Tonight will be beer and food as I am starving!
