Trooper Thursday actually seemed kind of fun, may need to check it out. Sorry about the AA bad beat, guessing it’s about a $1500+ swing.

Limit hold 'em is my main game, but playing 2/4 anywhere, and especially in downtown vegas, sounds soul crushing except under the precise conditions where you are loaded and just trying to blow off some cheap steam. These may have been those conditions.

I'm no expert, but I play bomb pots all the time, although they are double board -- I mean a lot of bomb pots, including PLO -- and even with this board I cry fold. With the 269 rainbow board it's a snap fold.

Nitty of me to mention this, but that bomb pot is a fold. You have 35% equity against 7 random hands on the top board, but that will go up very little if you fold out opponents, because you made hand is so weak. IF that was the only board, pot odds might force you to proceed depending on stack and bomb size (in which case you would want to bring in additional callers, not fold them out since your equity comes almost entirely from the times you have the high hearts).

But there's that 2nd board. You have 14% equity against 7 random hands, and it's basically all draw so that will improve very little with folds.

Bomb pots are one of the few places in poker that actually use the skill everyone thought was the nuts in 2002 - namely accurately estimating your equity.

Just woke up, drank way too much last night, spewed a bunch on craps and am going to do a write up over breakfast.

Peppermill on the list but I'm on an hour plus wait.

**** it, got nothing but time.

Will count that bomb pot mistake as an expensive lesson. I miscalculated the weaker board and seems more obvious now that without any made hand there I should have folded. 7 outs there (assuming he has 67) werent enough.

I got twitchy every bomb pot the rest of the night lol

Waiting for Peppermill so I'm gonna try to write all this down.

Huge losses yesterday for me but overall, was an awesome night.

The table that donfrap and I got sat at to start was awesome. Lots of money flying around, good banter.

Having thisgameweplay show up, sit down and casually mention he knew who I was from the site was dope.

Drank a ton of Coronas and had a blast.

Big hands of note:

Those bomb pots are ****ing crazy. The guy that won the huge one from donfrap was actually a really nice guy from Minnesota. He ran well but played well too, super nice guy. He comes into play a little later.

Lost about a $600 pot after 3 betting pf with AQ on the button, cbet a 10 5 2 flop and get a Q on the turn.

I bet about 3/4 pot, one caller, happens to be the guy I cracked earlier in the night with the AJh hand. Guy calls, river 3 completes the rainbow. He checks I bet 3/4 pot again and he tanks. Takes a fee minutes, asks me if I have 2 pair and then calls me with 23o for rivered 2 pair.

Oof.

A few orbits later I get AQ on the button again and 3 bet against one of what I thought was one of the weakest players at the table. Q86 flop, he bets 1/3 or so into me, I raise 5x and he calls with less than 3/4 pot bet left. Turn 8, he checks, I shove thinking he can really only call me on flop with KQ, QJ, or maybe an 8.

Or definitely an 8. A8. Lol. Doh!

New player sits down, but in small and starts taking his phone out and filming after hes bet flops and turns etc.

THEN he starts talking about how hes a poker blogger too and trooper is his Hero and I honest to god almost lost my ****. I was so high, I couldn't take it.

A few hands later after this guy limps to me 5 handed, I raise with 10d9d and he calls.

Flop is 8d7d2d. He checks, I bet about pot. Right after I bet, he takes his phone off the table, starts talking to the phone (I couldn't hear him) and starts filming before he calls.

Warning bells going off in my head like sirens on the Red October.

I decide there is ZERO chance hes starting filming for a weird bluff.

Turn is 2s and he checks to me while still filming. I check after my assessment earlier and we get the 10c on the river.

He immediately bets out a little under half pot and I tell him his flush is good and snap. Hs shows Kd5d. Shocker.

Did this dude just give me the best, easiest most reliable tell ever? Lol

He actually ended up with me at troopers table a little later and he seemed like a nice kid. He mentioned something about wondering how the hell I just called his river bet with my flush. I felt for him and told him about the filming being a clear tell in case he wasnt aware.

FINALLY get moved over to troopers table and by this point, I've had about 9 Coronas and am baked out of my skull. Note I didnt see trooper play but 1 hand the whole time I was at the table. So pro. He was loud about everything and acted like a male Karen about the mask rules.

They seat me 2 seats to troopers left, and once I sit I kinds started spacing out waiting for my beer. I start paying attention to the conversation around me and it was the most prescripted monologue I have ever heard. Guy to troopers direct left is going on about internet guys from forums about how they dont know anything. Trooper responds What forums are those? Looooooool.

Guy starts to say 2p2 is the biggest and theres a lot of people there who love you so much trooper but theres always haters. Starts talking about how a guy with screen name ttplo something something has talked a lot of **** about him. Trooper says that guy must be a total idiot. Looks DEAD AT ME and my high ass is like what?

Tells me I must be a really good pro with lots of cool stories if I'm so good. Everyone at the table except me and the guy from Minnesota from the other table has joined in this odd conversation now and the 3 guys closest to trooper were parroting lines I'm sure they had been working on all day.

Cue the wild confusion on my part.

OMG. This dildo thinks I'm some other guy from 2p2. Clown.

He and the guy start asking me what my cool vegas pro story is about my silver dollar I had on the table.

It's not a silver dollar, it's a dollar slot token from Caesars in AC.

My high ass shows him and the nice guy from Minnesota and then trooper left the table for about an hour after that, presumably to go film about owning an imaginary person.

A few hands after trooper left I get KK and 3 bet after a raise pf from the guy from Minnesota. He calls and we see a Jd3c4s flop.

He bets out about pot which is pretty large size for him. Idk wtf he has and I dont really care.

I raise huge and he goes into the tank for about 35 seconds, shrugs, and tosses QQ into the muck face up.

Vomit. Sick fold man.

After all that, I get the big loser with my AA ai pf vs QQ. I didnt even get to see it at first because of where I was sitting. I heard trooper and the parrot beside him when they saw the Q in the door. That beat hurt me a lot. I had told donfrap earlier that I have issues making Aces hold and I'd rather have **** like 86 or 97 because at least it makes my decision easier. I had Aces twice, lost massively with both. Overall, down $700 on poker for the day.

Note I didnt see trooper play but 1 hand the whole time I was at the table. So pro. He was loud about everything and acted like a male Karen about the mask rules. 0/10, not worth price of admission.

Went back to room and pounded a few beers, and then a few more.

I drank way too much, stayed up until 3 am shooting craps and lost $900.

Walking up to room and grabbed all the chips I had in my pocket to put on black, $206 total.

At least black will never let me down.

Going to take it easy today probably. Want to play the 705 tourney at Orleans.

Pics of Peppermill breakfast incoming if I can ever get seated.

Last thing, I want to thank everyone commenting and giving suggestions here. That's why I do the trip reports and I'm glad everyone is having a good time with it, I know I am!

That bomb pot **** is silly after a few beers. I'm still calling if I'm you but I'm an action donk so whatever.

Apparently I made an unconscious habit of going to piss everytime they did one for a few hours, as told to me by the nice man from Minnesota.

Bomb pots are cool if you have a $300 stack, not so much if you're $1k deep. The guy that won that also won another $1k bomb pot at troopers table before you got seated there.

Peppermill was busy as hell and took forever to seat me.

I started drinking last night and had 7 big DIPAs and 10 Hazy Lil Things in my fridge.

Pretty sure theres only 1 big beer and 1 hazy left. Ugh. I think that puts my beer count from 4pm to 4am to about 30.

I dont think I'm still drunk, I KNOW I'm still drunk.

Peppermill was pretty good. Had my heart set on Eggs Bene but once I saw the Scramble, drunk brain won.

Gonna head back to hotel and decide whether I want to go to the breweries today.

I think you can make up the time you're short on Friday before the tournament. Strongly consider playing it even if you have to cough up the $75 - Trooper has won it 2 or 3 times.

Did you guys ever get into the main game?

I wish I could have been at that table later in the evening, sounds like it got entertaining.

Hey cool trip report. Only thing I don't understand is why did they call you a pro when you are clearly there to have fun drinking bunch of beers?

Were you perhaps criticizing people's plays etc while drunk? I don't get it.

Regardless, you are making him money when you are there via rake. It's silly to be passive aggressive towards you. He should be welcoming all.
