I'm only at where you go to Resorts World for the first time, but I am really enjoying the trip report so far! I'll continue reading now.

Also, did you always play poker when visiting? Obviously the Vegas poker landscape was very different in the 80s I assume, with lots of 7 Card Stud games, and Limit Hold'em, and never any NLH. Also much less poker rooms I think, and most of the action was Downtown at Binion's until Mirage opened in the late 80s etc. At least from what I have read.
No I didn't paly poker back the. Started poker in the late 90's. Craps was my game back then but I soon realized craps was a losing proposition Poker is a great way to enjoy Vegas without getting killed at the tables.

Final thoughts!

I made it home safe and sound. It was interesting to see the mask debate in airports and planes in real time since masks were required on my first flight and gone on todays flight. There was a lot of news yesterday about a poll that said 56% of people believed the mask mandates should stay in place. They obviously didn't poll anybody at the Vegas airport today I would guess about one in every 30 people were wearing masks both in the airports and my flight.

Vegas in 2022 - There are plenty of people. The streets and casinos are as crowded as ever. But even though the crowds are back there is very little "24 hour" activity outside of casinos. Really had to find early morning breakfast places. Every casino used to have a 24 hour eating spot and now almost none do. I imagine this is more based on staffing than on demand.

Poker - Poker rooms were full for the most part. Some games were good and some horrible but that has always been the case. Tournaments seemed to get pre-covid field sizes. Every table was 8 handed which is nice. 9 is okay and 10 is horrible. 8 handed makes it comfortable at the tables. Jamming 10 fatass hold'em players around a table was just bad. Other than Aria on Sunday after I bombed the tourney was the only time I encountered a long list to get in a game. Most of the time I just got a seat. Sad to see the loss of poker rooms like Mirage and PH as I almost always played at least one session at each of those.

Caesars Palace - Like I said I stayed there once in the late 70's on which I believe was my second ever Vegas trip. The casino was always a mob scene during normal hours. I already described the checkin drama. To add salt to that would after I had checked in I noticed an email from Caesars telling me I could skip the line and check in online. Uhg! I stayed in the Forum Tower which I assume is the crappiest because it was the cheapest. The room was clean and noce but was starting to show some age. One nice thing about the forum tower was that it is right near the poker room and sports book. They are redesigning the check in area right now so there is construction going on. Caesars has been added on to so much it has become sort of maze like. So I was surprised when I went to the desk to get a property map they said they didn't have any? If any place needs a property map it is Caesars!

Weather was great although windy a day or two. But I like spring trips for the pleasant weather. I won't go anywhere near Vegas in the summer as it's just too damn hot.

I had a great time. I would have liked to run better but still had a good time. I just never could get any momentum going. I will probably go back in the fall for another go at it.

So bottom line Vegas seems "almost" back from covid. Then again maybe they will decide they don't need all of those 24 hour spots and they never come back? I guess time will tell

If you’re ever looking for a new place to visit, consider southwest FL. We got Grimaldis, Cheesecake Factory, nice poker room, two spring training stadiums (Red Sox and Twins), and beaches.

The 56% poll was a survey taken 5 days before the mask mandate was overturned in court. It obviously didn't get published until later, to make it seem like this was a recent poll after the removal. Because media.

Anyway, I digress. The real numbers are seen in airports all over the country I assume. Thanks for the TR, looking forward to heard to Vegas myself in 2 weeks!

Dat wind do.

My trip overlapped yours, and we were in some of the same places, just at slightly different times. The weather was a nice change from our usual summer trips. Breakfast outside at PHo was even chilly. Yesterday, the pool at Resorts World got shut down because of the wind.

Thanks for the TR.

One last update. Seems as though I brought home an unwanted souvenir from Vegas. Just tested positive for covid. Started feeling a bit gnarly when I got home with a low grade fever so I got a test. Pretty much feels like a cold. I am just happy to have natural antibodies now. I am about the only person I know who hadn't gotten it yet.

Damn that sucks, yes speedy recovery. I think I might still wear a mask when flying or in airports. A little discomfort might be worth avoiding bringing home an unwanted souvenir.

Well, it's pretty much gone already. I would equate my case to that of a mild cold. Already had 3 vax shots but feel much more comfortable now carrying around natural antibodies. I figure everybody will get it eventually as I was last man standing in my circle of family and friends.

If you are just jonesing for fried chicken Hattie B's at Cosmo is very good and a much better value but that comes with the food court type of experience.
For me the "experience" I want is eating it at home. Since I can't do that in Vegas, I'd rather eat in my room. KFC or anything else doesn't bother me afterward. I'm not the biggest fan of fried chicken in the first place. I get KFC or the equivalent a couple three times a year.

On the Strip it was at Stardust for one. Imploded and space occupied by Resorts World now.
