What a long exhausting day I have had! Just gonna chill in the roomto decompress and sip a few beers before I hopefully get about 10 hours of sleep
After last report I was able to catch about an hour of semi-conscious napping. Then after dicking around a bit I headed to the Venetian. But as stated above they were running some $800 tourney instead. I decided since I had gotten a little rest and was already down that way I would play the $500 senior at the Wynn. I figured I should grab a snack before the tourney so I grabbed a bottle of water and a soft pretzel at the snack stand place in Encore. 13 FRIKKEN dollars for a pretzel and a bottle of water. That place has no shame
After my pretzel I was wandering around Encore which was pretty devoid of people when I had a celebrity sighting. I am walking with no one around except some scruffy looking fat guy coming toward me from the other direction. I recognized him immediately. I pointed at him and said "Tim Dillion, hey I am a big fan". To which he replied "Hey thanks man I really appreciate it". I am uncertain what proper etiquette is when seeing a celebrity. Ignore or say something like I did?
Anyway tourney came and I bled chips for the first few levels. It was a 30K starting stack with good structure and 30 minute levels. I fianally raked a few pots and hit the first break with 36K which was about average. There were 219 entries and it paid 23. First place was around 24K and 23rd place was around 1100. I hit the second break with about 56K which was once right around average. The third break was dinner break for an hour and I was starving. I hit this break with about 175K which was a little above average with about 46 players left. If my $13 pretzel taught me nothing else it was that I didn't want anything to do with the quick food options in Wynn/Encore. I went to the Palazzo Grand Lux and had a BLT which was okay. And it only cost $6 more than a pretzel and a bottle of water
I had been at the same table for the whole tourney so far but after the break I got switched 3 times in 20 minutes. Spoiler alert I busted out in 34th place. It was a tough spot,at least for my thinking. I felt I really played well until this point with a lot of patience and discipline and aggressiveness when needed. On my bust hand I had only been at the table for a few hands and had no reads on anyone. Blinds were 3000/5000/5000 and I had about 175K still. Early position raises to 16K. I call with pocket 10's in late position and big blind calls. Flop comes ou 9 high rainbow. BB checks and initial raiser bets 50K and he has me slightly covered. I think a bit and know I can't call. I can only push or fold. He seems like the type that would do this with merely over cards. I say **** it which is what I say before I bust out of any tounament
The tourney is quickly approaching shove or fold territory and I have an over pair so I hope I have fold equity or that he has AK or AQ. But he has QQ calls and I make that long walk back from the Wynn to PH.
Despite leather assing a poker tournament for over 8 hours I managed to walk 17 miles today and I am spent. I think I figured out the good side of the bed to sleep on hope I get some tonight. I just finished my second beer since I started this update and it is the first alcohal I have had this trip. There will be much more from here on out
Tomorrow Neeme and Owen have a meet up game at Bellagio starting at 10am so I figure I will check that out. No other plans for the rest of the trip other than eat, drink and play poker. Today was definitely a woulda coulda shoulda day.
