I looked up a couple of my fav flight day lunch places and they are not doing lunch service right now...
Milos @ Cosmo apparently not quite as good a deal as it used to be for the prix-fixe menu, but last time I ate there it was incredible value for $20 and would have been fine if it had been $29.
If you do end up putting a morning poker session in at V, then checking your bags in with the V bellhop, playing poker there, having lunch there, and airport from there might make sense. I was keen on Delmonicos for a last day lunch, but they aren't offering lunch right now....
Grand Luxe - difference of opinion solver if you both want different things.
Black Tap - reasonable burger, inevitably overpriced, but right next to poker room.
Smith&Wollensky - I woudn';t go there in the middle of a trip, or for dinner, most likely. But if you are in the V and want enough food to not have to bother either at the airport or on the plane, I might give this a shot. Perhaps if your friend hadn't hara-kiri'd his BR last night, you might have got him to spring for this
Canaletto - Can eaty pretty healthily from their antipasti/insalate menu options if you don't feel like having to crap out a bowling ball on the flight...
