TR: Burger Hunting in Vegas

Last day in downtown before moving to Flamingo for our last three days.
Let's start with an amuse bouche in you-know-where
Random street Tacos on Fremont. Was legit, though
And then a dinner in Chada with a special quest, gobbo. This is a repeat of last year but can you blame us? What's restricting us is that you can only eat "a lot" at x number of resturants when you'd want to eat everything at every restaurant.
We had a million dishes and i have a million bad photos, but to give you a taste, the spring rolls were very fresh and the crispy duck panang is just great. I'd say pairing wines with these spicy dishes is challenging. Their Zinfandel couldn't fight against the flavor overkill.
Then back to downtown Texas. The Golden Nugget games have been a very positive surprise. The uncapped buyin seems to attract deepstacked and loose clientele. But rest assured, our wallets keep losing weight no matter who is at the table.

Breakfast hunting. Babystacks Cafe in north Summerlin.
Red velvet pancakes, banana foster, traditional eggs benedict w/ hash browns. Grilled cheese, double bacon double cheese
Another letdown in this category. They forgot the double bacon, and i doubt there was double cheese either. Otherwise the sandwich was obviously good but not great.
Pancakes slightly on the dry side but the sauces and toppings helped. Banana version is better than red velvet which is a surprise. Benedict good but hash browns not crispy enough and not enough of that slightly burnt & sweet flavor which makes great hash browns shine. According to our pancake hunting department, Babystacks comes with variance depending on location.
And then one of our favorite pastas at Il Mulino New York in Caesars. Our first visit was to the Trump Taj Mahal one in AC 8 years ago, and it became a traditon
The key here is their Arrabiata. Simple and great with enough garlic. They serve a small bruschetta, eggplant and parmiggiano on the house to start with. If you'll have the huge pasta on top of that, there won't be room for dessert. Grappa comes from a copper jar and puts you to sleep. We went to craps tho.

Final day!
We wake up, we see a golden egg in the horizon. Eggslut it must be.
The only problem is a group of 20 female egg hunters in the line before us. Let the sluts have their eggs, we will go to Wicked Spoon.
Right off the bat we get the eggs benedict done right. It tastes, it feels, it touches us.
Build-your-own oxtail Pho soup. Not quite like on the streets of Saigon, but i liked the building part
We usually never eat wings in a premium buffet because they are for fools (just like pizza is). It's like paying $50 for KFC. But here they are juicy, and they deserve a chance. Mix the spicy horseradish and sweet wicked bbq to balance things out (range merge).
We see an inverted broccoli pattern in the current stock market. Resistance level stands at 2-3 slices of beef. The au jus was remarkably good, better than at these premium buffets usually. Chimichurri looks like a turd but works great. Be careful with the mash to avoid the fool trap. At $36 Cosmo still delivers an interesting buffet. Must be -ev for them to even let us in

Waiter rolls his eyes, looks for another person and asks "where do i put the other one?"

WRAP-UP
First of all, how does it take 3 weeks to write a wrap-up post?
You see, man enters Vegas. Man devours all edible items, drives up and down the I-15 like it’s the path to paradise. He stops at every establishment that might have ice cream inside. He came to play poker but he is doing everything but that. Finally he balloons into a living, breathing burger/oyster hybrid.
Then comes the day when man sees a cinnabon in front of him. The initial excitement is quickly followed by sadness because cinnabons live near the departure gates at McCarran.
Then man finds himself walking in slushy snow, entering and exiting offices, acting like a responsible person with values. Morning meetings, phone calls and emails. Can’t i just drive to valet and hit the pit? Life hits a plateau.
Vegas ain’t what it it used to be, either. 6 to 5 blackjack, please pay for parking signs, ”only one drink at a time” restrictions, obnoxious resort fees and all that. The illusion of free is being watered down by the corporate bean counters who’ve never even been on an adventure with betti the yetti. Remember the ending scene of Casino?
The culinary offerings, dirt cheap flights and many other excuses will keep us coming back for more. Poker is not one of those excuses, because the games in Europe are way better. But who needs poker anyway when you got skills in dice, slots and eating.
