So: ended the night with a win in craps and VP. Headed back to Bally's and crashed....
UNTIL 5AM HOLY **** I FEEL HORRIBLE
I woke up, sweaty, and my stomach was reeling. I stumble to the bathroom and you know what happened from the prelude to this tale.
I spend the next 3 hours with a wet washcloth on my forehead, alternately sleeping fitfully and waking up feeling miserable. But the worst was apparently over. At 8:30 am I decided to walk to Aria to cash out my remaining sports bet tickets. It was a rough walk. I got some water in Cosmo. I walked back to Bally's. I still felt miserable, and tried to reconstruct the cause of my misery.
Conclusion? Probably the oysters at Public House. It's not really a seafood place, so who knows how they were stored. Or just a random bad one. None of them tasted funny or smelled weird.
Last month they had this problem with Canadian oysters:
"Canadian Oysters Sicken 100 in California with Norovirus"
http://www.foodpoisonjournal.com/foo...ith-norovirus/
And the symptoms of norovirus were entirely consistent with my own experience: onset within 12-48 hours and misery lasting for a few days.
I also probably had about 10 beers on that last day, but they were spread out over 12 hours, and this felt much more than just an alcohol issue.
I was able to get a 1 hour extension on check out time, which was perfect because at 11 am I had another episode of vomiting! I couldn't believe it, but I did feel much better after this final round...
I checked out of the room, and went downstairs to play Ultimate TX (terrible dealers at Bally's), Blackjack (surly dealer), and Craps (totally uninterested dealers). Really poor job on the table games staffing at this casino.
I took Uber to the airport. I had plenty of time. I boarded the plane (Southwest) on time. The doors closed on time. We taxied to the runway on time. And then....we sat, and sat, and sat...45 minutes goes by. I'm in the 3rd to last row, window seat, two giant guys to my left, and I'm sweating profusely, praying that I don't have to use the puke-bag in the seat, which suddenly seems surprisingly small.
We wait some more. We taxi back to the gate. We wait another 45 minutes. I miss my connection. I spend 5 hours at the Phoenix airport. They give me a $100 flight voucher and a $14 meal voucher. My final flight is fine. I struggle to stay awake on the drive home. I get back to my house and, because it's trash day the next morning, drag the trash cans to the curb.
Final tally:
Hotel
Bally's 3 nights, free plus fees = $110
Cosmo 2 nights, free plus fees = $80
Meals
Gordon Ramsay Steak = $$
L'Atelier = $$
SW Steak = $$$
Public House = bad oyster pukefest
Poker
Aria +$800
PH +$600
Caesar's -$500
Wynn -$500
TOTAL +$400
Table Games
+$100 or $200
TOTAL GAMBLING
I arrived with $5000, left with $5500, and I spent some cash here and there for cabs and such, so I'm probably up about $600 total for the trip.
Despite the physical misery on the last day, it was a GREAT trip, filled with a variety of wins in craps, Ultimate TX HE, sports bets, and poker.
Without the $1000 of losses in $2-5 on the last day it would have been perfect!
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed it. Let me know what you think about those poker hands.
