Third break, still chipleader at my table at 218k. Next closest is ~120k, coming back to 2k/3k/3k.

The levels that have been eliminated to speed up the structure are here in the middle. Other than the total fish that respond to raising blinds by limping more (lol), it’s very much a pushbot, SnG-style flippament.

It’s been a long time since I took SnG’s seriously. I spend my folded time thinking about exactly how many big blinds I’ll call with a hand like A7o, and from which position. I’m also factoring the stacks behind me, with reads based on what they’ve done. Then there are the lol spots where I’m shoving any 2 or calling any 2.

The good news is, at least at this stage of the tournament, I’m confident none of my opponents have outworked me online constructing ranges for these spots… even if I put in that range work 15+ years ago. Just gonna trust my reads, put faith in those ranges, and come what may.

Let’s make it another great 4 levels, then the bubble should pop shortly after dinner.

Bah after that rousing, inspiring speech, I lose a 3 way all in calling a 5bb shove with A3s, and bb woke up with JJ and 18 bb’s.

Pushbotting hasn’t gone well, and we went in the wrong direction. On dinner now, coming back to 91k (and the button) at 5k/10k/10k.

The big hands were the one I mentioned, plus JJ winning vs my ATo. I tried to stop-n-go from the bb with KQo, but completely whiffed the 4-3-2 flop.

I did get an 11bb shove through from UTG with Ad7d, and that was evidently enough to get AhTh to fold. Saw some titanic flips the last hour, AKo > 77 for a 350k pot, AJo ships on QQ and gets there for a 300k pot, stuff like that.

Another time I raised KsTs to 17k at 4/8 from the cutoff, and the big blind stop-n-go’d me on Jc 8c 3h…. I released for 42k more. Not sure about that one…. I just figured if I’ve waited this long, I want to put my life on the line in a spot I feel sure about.

We’re less than 100 people busting from the bubble, but a mincash of $480 does absolutely nothing for me. I care not a whit about it, if I feel like it’s the right spot.

I asked for a good spot, I waited for a good spot, and I GOT a good spot.

Huge stack open rips 330k+ from HJ, solid player in the cutoff calls all in for less, 112k, and I wake up with TT in the big blind. I get my 121k in…. HJ has ATo, CO has AKo, and I’m in as good a spot as I could have hoped for.

Ace and a king in the flop, and that’s all she wrote. The HJ’s ace scooped me for the table scraps I had left in the side pot.

So it goes, that’s tournament poker.

Unrelated: I’m pretty sure that’s a hooker standing by the door next to the payout line.
