Yeah, and they really tax you on the drinks, too…. I think my large fountain drink was $5.50 of that $22.

I believe the French would describe it as “sans lube” and it’s everywhere right now. Everything is quite pricey. Finding real value anywhere near the strip is a challenge.

Play in Paris if you bust. The games there are almost always good. You're there anyway, and the lines will be shorter than anywhere else. I hear they have LOTS of dealers there.
Just curious, do Diamond card holders skip to the top of the lists?

The pizza is a little better at the place in the Paris hallway, with the window you just order at. Another place that's better nearby is Ringers at PHo, accessed easiest from outside on the sidewalk. It's easy to miss, so look close. The slices are huge, like a foot and a half long. There's also Giordano's Chicago style just outside the Horseshoe in the Bazaar Shops.

Eh, not happy with my play at all today…. Finished the nightcap -670. A guy sat in for the max 1k, and ran it up to around 5k, just hitting everything and always getting there. I tried to play with him, and play back at him, but I’m reminded how it’s really tough to isolate and attack someone when they’re two to your left.

Consequently, I made way too many speculative calls preflop for big 3bets. I was positively a payoff wizard on several rivers, just awful stuff. When it seems like all the big hands you’re playing are out of position, you’re doing something wrong.

The last hand of the night, I call/call/folded to a bet/bet/shove with ace rag in a 3bet pot, and that’s when I knew I’d had enough. I knew I clearly wasn’t playing well, so let’s pick up the rest of this stack, and put it back in the bankroll for tomorrow. So if there’s a little silver lining, I was able to make a quit before I went broke.

I also stayed out too late, if I’m gonna be playing Flight B tomorrow. So now, bed.

Tomorrow’s a new day in Vegas!

The worst part is, they used to crush you on things you expected to get crushed on: drinks at clubs, steakhouses, cocktail lounges etc, but would keep the cheap stuff as an option. Now 65 dollar buffets are the norm, I saw one person post a 70 dollar bill at Johnny rockets for two people, subway’s inedible subs have special strip pricing etc. I’m sure most of us will never give Vegas up, but if you don’t love gambling or high end nightlife there are so many other places to go on vacation.

Yeah,on board with this. Like one thing is that everything on the strip is gonna be expensive,i think most people would accept/understand that. Big tourist destination yada yada. But flat out ripping people off with ridicilous pricelevels is something else.

Ive been to Vegas many times now,and i love this city. However, last summer i found myself getting increasingly annoyed regarding the pricelevels. That is pretty unusual for me. Not only is the pricelevels going up,the food quality is dropping at the same time many places. For example fivefifty pizza next to Aria pokerroom is gone, and the "new" joint isnt close to the same quality. Grand Lux at Venetian, more expensive+smaller portion sizes and worse food.

Combine this with smaller and smaller comp levels at the casinos, charging for parking+++There is no question that Vegas is gonna scare off alot of tourists in the future if this trend continues.

TJ's doing it right, staying off strip, having options. Hit Chinatown, hit Fremont St. Venture off strip for better pricing on everything!

Woke up in time for a good breakfast. About to head over to the WSOP.

I might win today, I might lose…. But today I’m DETERMINED to play my big hands IN position instead of out of position.

On time, well-rested, well-fed, and caffeinated. Feeling great, and I’m in VEGAS. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Even got to say hi to Kevmath on my way in.

Let’s goooooooooo!!!

At all Caesar's properties, yes.

7 Star / Diamond / Everyone Else

Yep, skip lines in poker for seven stars is great. Try to get a seat in the sportsbook and say you are a seven star and they laugh.

First break, in good shape at 44k from a 30k starting stack. I was over 60k at one point, then played had two hands where I had strong flush draws, bet or called two streets, and missed both.

The big hand I won, I correctly called down 3 streets in a 3bet pot with 77 on a 9-8-2-6-J runout. In position

The big winner from my cash game last night is at my table… guess I’m glad I’ve seen him play so I have an idea of how to read him. Over 3k entrants today already, this town just ain’t big enough for the both of us. We haven’t really tangled today yet.

Peacefully, patiently grinding.

Likewise! Shoot me a message if you want to get together for a meal while we’re both in town.

Second break, and I’m right on schedule. Chipleader at my table, with almost 90k coming back to 1k/1.5k/1.5k. I also have position on the only player over double a starting stack.

At 400/800, I open AKo to 2k from UTG+1, a late reg makes it 5k playing about 29k total. I don’t want to fold, and this stack depth is awkward for 4betting. I want to see all 5 cards, so I 4b/ship, he calls with TT, and I hit an ace AND a king. I wouldn’t have been out if I lost, but I would have been in bad shape.

Well, you can’t win 10 flips in a row until you win the first one!

On a 30 minute break to color up.

Just adding to what others are saying this is one of the better trip reports for a while. Keep it up TJ. I’m not even much of a NL or tourney guy anymore and I’m enjoying it. My only recommendation is to try some more restaurants in your Airbnb area? Do you drink beer? Some good breweries in the Arts District. Go to Nevada Brew Works and get the skinny burger.
