When I was in line to buy in for tomorrow’s flight, I saw a guy playing chess on his phone. I say, “Is that chess.com? What’s your rating?” He goes, 1730. I reply “Oh. Never mind then
”
He laughed and says it always comes down to time controls.
I’m a rec chess enthusiast… and I HATE the Cadillac of chess, blitz/bullet. I legit have stress and anxiety with tight time controls, then I blunder it away and get angry.
I play 3 day games, so I can move whenever I check my phone, and can think about the best move. I know pros don’t play day+ moves because people cheat.
There’s a glass ceiling for me at 1400, every time I get close, I lose the next 6 straight games. Although I DID win a game with Legal’s Mate, which is pretty much the coolest way to teach that to someone
I’m “HorseyTakesQueen” on chess.com, COME AT ME!
