I actually think the carrot juice tastes better. Makes no sense.

Also… apparently we’re playing 2/5/10 again. Ah well… big stacks and big bets, let’s spin!
It's the combo of the sugar with the carrot. I've had carrot soup and I was very tasty.

I’m gonna break some news in the thread today…. Deepstacked 2/5/10 is…. Swingy.

Started with $1k, then I made a pair of aces in a 3bet pot, but had to fold to a huge two-barrel. Added on $500 more, lost some more, then added $500 MORE, in for $2k, when I made a score.

I think the table thought I was playing too loose, and I was getting my opens 3bet. I opened twice over about two orbits, got 3bet when I was out of position, and released both times.

So I open 8h7h to $30, and I get 3bet to $90, from the small blind. Since I had position, I took a flop this time, which came down 9d-7d-4h. He continues for $100, I float. Turn is the Th, giving me open ended and back door hearts to go with my pair. He fires again, for $325. I shove for $800ish total, and he quickly flicks in a chip for the call. I turn over my hand exactly as the river rolls off, a lovely 3h. He looks disgusted and shows TT before mucking.

That was the first of three flushes I hit in the next orbit and a half, two of them back door flushes… getting a $690 river bet crying call when I made the nuts on the last one, and suddenly I’m sitting on about $3.6k! This is fun.

Then a new player gets moved from another table, so he can bring his whole $2k+ stack…. And he starts playing like a LAG psycho. He 3bets to over $100 each of his first four hands, and gives a $500 stack a double with A8o for top pair, while his opponent had QQ.

He looked primed and ready to blast off, so when he made it $50 from the cutoff, I took a flop with him, and flopped top pair. My plan was to check and call down each street, and give him the rope to hang himself. Sure enough, he bet/bet/shoved the runout, but he had the same top pair as me and rivered his kicker. It was almost a $4k pot, and now I’m back down to $1.4k. It felt like starting all over.

He settled down after that, but still occasionally put in a wild 3bet or squeeze here and there. I grinded some more, got up to about 2.1k, then the spot left, another weak player left, and the guy with over $4.5k in his stack also left, all at the same time.

The list was still miles long, so new players came promptly, but I’d been playing over 6 hours and didn’t have the focus, observational capacity, or patience to study 4 new players. Plus, I’m playing the Gladiators tomorrow, and I want to be fed and on time for the 10 am start. So I grab a couple racks, and count my chips…. $1,998. Down two whole US dollars.

To be fair, I did get a 30 minute massage at the table ($60, plus a $10 tip), drank about 4 strawberry juliuses and two carrot juices, and of course tipped the dealers. So if I need to justify the books to myself for red ink vs black for those two dollars, I can do it in my mind.

…but I definitely gave the cage two singles to go with my chips to get my 20 bills back.

Hopefully tomorrow will be another long day! I’m only gonna fire one bullet per flight, even though 2 re-entries per day are allowed. I like to play at the start, to see if I can get to the absolute fishiest dead money players first.

If I bust, I’ll play cash somewhere the rest of the day.

GL in the gladiators... I'll swing over before I have to take off.

Play in Paris if you bust. The games there are almost always good. You're there anyway, and the lines will be shorter than anywhere else. I hear they have LOTS of dealers there.

First break, down to 16k from a 30k starting stack. Compared to the deepstacked, aggro 2/5/10 games I’ve been playing in, I’ve got a dream table…. At least 5 spots I’d classify as loose/passive, nobody particularly tight enough to notice if they enter pots.

One guy says he played the Mystery Millions, which I don’t doubt due to the Rolex Submariner on his arm. He also says he cashed, which I very much doubt.

As for me, I haven’t been getting hands. Lost a bit when I led top pair, slowed down and let him bluff, which I called, then his middle pair hit his kicker on the river. Another time I made a pair of aces on the flop and floated the cbet, then another guy checkraised huge. I thought about just going with it, because he seemed spazzy, but I wasn’t willing to put my tournament life on the line with a meh kicker when I didn’t open.

Nobody’s busted the first four levels, so everyone’s right around a starting stack. I have no concerns I’ll be able to get for value once I finally make a hand, that’s all that’s missing right now.

Busto. Just couldn’t get anything going. I picked up AA and KK, but got no action. Then I picked up QQ in the BB. UTG raised, and there were some callers, so it looked like a pretty tasty rip-squeeze spot, but he had KK. K in the window, 100% dead on the turn, gg and gl everyone.

I bid safe travels to prairiebreeze, who’s on his way to the airport. Great guy, would definitely hang out with again next time we’re both in town.

I put my name on the list for 3/5 cash (1k cap) at the Horseshoe, so since the cap is lower, it probably won’t turn into 3/5/10. Probably.

Now I’m in line to reload for tomorrow’s flight. If my table was any indication, this field is buttercream soft… if I can make some hands, I’ll definitely make a run.

Grabbed some pizza in the food court at Horseshoe… the Sbarro line moves fast because most of the pizzas are pre-made. It was very meh for $22

I was waiting on the list at Horseshoe, and it wasn’t moving AT ALL. So I walked back to the Paris ballroom, and they have 6 games going with a 10 person list that’s moving.

It’s started badly for me, made some inadvisable call downs, out of position, when I should have just folded.

Currently in for 1.6k, sitting on 1.3k but I have a solid, annoying player on my left. Some new players bought in deep, so I’ll see how it goes.

Pro tip: Best places to get in a game quickly during WSOP are Paris and Resorts World and it’s not even remotely close.

And if you have Diamond or higher with Caesars, that opens a couple extra doors to getting seats quickly.

Picked up from that game at +170…. I didn’t like being that deep with the only good player having me covered to my direct left. I also didn’t want to feed his ego and give him the credit with a seat change.

Still feeling good enough to keep playing, I’m gonna start anew with a fresh 1k on another table.

Retreating is not a weakness but a regrouping for a later attack!

When I was in line to buy in for tomorrow’s flight, I saw a guy playing chess on his phone. I say, “Is that chess.com? What’s your rating?” He goes, 1730. I reply “Oh. Never mind then

He laughed and says it always comes down to time controls.

I’m a rec chess enthusiast… and I HATE the Cadillac of chess, blitz/bullet. I legit have stress and anxiety with tight time controls, then I blunder it away and get angry.

I play 3 day games, so I can move whenever I check my phone, and can think about the best move. I know pros don’t play day+ moves because people cheat.

There’s a glass ceiling for me at 1400, every time I get close, I lose the next 6 straight games. Although I DID win a game with Legal’s Mate, which is pretty much the coolest way to teach that to someone

I’m “HorseyTakesQueen” on chess.com, COME AT ME!
