Made it to the next break (I’ve lost count lol), the last one before we play a few more levels, then bag for the night.

Some work to do, I’m at 140k and I think we’re coming back to 10k/15k/15k, because we’re racing off the 1k chips.

Not much notable about my play, I’ve been tight. I raised blind vs blind, missed, cbet anyway, and had to give it up, and that costs like 50k chips now.

People still play quite bad, even the ones who lasted this long. Preflop shoves > 10 big blinds with K7s, snap calls from A9 in the blinds, etc etc. I just haven’t picked anything up yet.

I’m a little tilted, because we’ve had three absolute butchers of a dealer the last three downs, but it can’t be helped.

There was a gigantic 650k pot, KK vs Q8s all in on Q-8-4, river K…. And the participants of the hand felt the need to justify their strategies, got butthurt, and into an argument. So it’s tense and uncomfortable at my table.

If the tourney board is to be believed, we’re down to 620 runners, but that’s still only good for barely double the tourney buy in.

Just staying patient, looking for a good spot.

but you're in the money?

I'm guessing you're only a flip and another decent hand away from being at chip ave? Just got to find ways to avoid big hands and get lucky!

There's also the Bazaar Shops outside, with a lot of different and expensive things. Paris has a few places but they aren't very big.

Now that you're in the money, that's probably the best move. Payout jumps are small in the middle going.

480th place, for $1,404.

Huge stack UTG min-clicks it to 30k, even bigger stack flats from MP, I shove 105k from CO with 66, original raiser folds, the caller had QQ, somehow. Wasn’t even a sweat.

I’m fine with the decision…. Even though I’m likely to get called in one or both spots, I don’t think I can ask for a better spot than a pair with 7 bigs.

The stress and anxiety are bleeding off, now that I’m in line to get paid.

Well it was fun, and exhilarating in a way that even big cash game wins aren’t. …Feel free to remind me I said that next time I grind 8 hours in a donkament, lose a completely standard preflop setup flip, and go home with nothing.

congrats bro. Off to a great start. Have a few beers

nothing in poker more thrilling or engrossing as a deep run in a tourney. it's just the dozens of miserable card dead events and brutal beats you have to wade through that suck.

Good Job TJ.

When you are running good, 6’s are better than Q’s. As they say you gotta win flips to win the tournaments.

This is an awesome start, the bar is set now, lets aim higher.

Do you have a sense of how closer you were from bag-n-tag?

Nice run! These tourneys with 30 minute levels move fast. If you always wait for the dream spot, you'll fold down to 0 BBs.

Looks like 318 bagged from 6085 starters, which is almost exactly 5% of the field. Although the 30 minute deep stacks are "multi-day" events, they play much faster than something like the Monster Stack, where 30% will bag after day one. Not all bags are created equal, and these are some of the hardest events to bag from a % standpoint.

Nice first couple of days. Before you know it you’ll be eating the chefs menu at the best non strip restaurants in town. Partage, Wolf and Sparrow say hello to TJ.

I needed to decompress after the tournament last night, so I didn’t fall asleep until after 4 am, then for some reason I woke up at 9:30. Was pretty hungry, so I walked to IHOP to grab breakfast.

I subbed the chocolate cinnamon cream cheese crepes for the pancakes, and it was quite good. That plus coffee was $34. Apparently IHOP in Vegas serves alcohol, and has bartop video poker machines (6/5 pay table ). Only in Vegas.

Then I walked back to my place, because I was having an issue with my hot water heater. I reached out to my Airbnb host…. After flipping the breakers, we found out the shower is backwards. If you turn it to hot, cold water comes out, and if you turn it to cold, you get hot water.

So now that that’s squared away, I think I’m gonna head to Resorts World to play some 2/5!

Resorts World is the newest mega resort casino on the strip. They decided to go big with the place in every way:

Huge casino floor, large and nice poker room, and they raided lots of their dealers and floor staff from the Wynn. Best I can tell, they aren’t running a special tourney series other than dailies while the WSOP is going, but I prefer they focus on high volume cash games. The demand for that is certainly there.

In for 1k, prairiebreeze is at the table next to me, let’s gooooo!

Well that was quick. -1000 in 40 minutes. UTG+1 makes it 20, I make it 65 with JJ, he calls. Flop J-6-5r one diamond, I downbet 40 hoping for a raise but he flats. Turn 4d, I bet 130, he makes it 325.

Well, 8-7 just got there, and he was definitely loose enough to be playing that from EP. He was aggro, so I thought it was possible he could be semi bluffing with turned diamonds or a 7, or maybe all the slowplayed lower sets.

My hand is sooooo under-repped, and he could be raising LOTS worse for value. So I shove, he snaps with 8d7d, and the river was the meaningless 2d to give him the flush also.

I still have 5 black chips in my pocket, but I’m gonna take a bit to clear my head and get some food at the food court. Prairiebreeze got coolered at the same time as me, so he’s over in the sports book sweating his hockey bet.

I got back on the 2/5 list while I eat, and I won’t sit back in to the same table when I get called, it was a bit of a rock garden.

40-70 people at Wynn, Venetian, and Bellagio, but only 15-20 here at Resorts World, which is why we’re here today.

I assumed it would be better because it’s no longer the weekend, but nope. Just gotta accept you’ll be on a list anywhere you go in town.
