Las Vegas: Day One
After landing at McCarran International airport at 8:30 local time, the first move was to hit the sports book and place a few wagers on the Thanksgiving games (pictured above)
Those didn’t go great, but also not too bad. At 1:00 our room was ready for early check in. Felt great to finally be able to put everything up in the room and not have to carry it around.
Once the bags were dropped it was time to hit Paris. Although it’s my third time visiting, I’ve never been to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I pretty much **** my pants once I got up there but the view was breathtaking and worth it. Seeing the Bellagio fountain show from up there was dope as well.
After ****ting my pants it was time to play a quick session at Aria. Unfortunately no 5/T was running at 3:30, so we hit the 2/5 streets. Was able to take home a cool little 50 bb profit. Literally played no interesting hands. The game was way above average, and I would have loved to stay but when the stomach calls you can’t ignore it. Also, there would be plenty of Poker time later on.
A new place that has opened since my last visit was Wahlburgers. Was a solid burger. I love burgers so I’m slightly biased but I’ll give the meal an 8.9/10. The secret wahl sauce was underwhelming but **** it I was full.
After a quick pit stop at flamingo to change (Las Vegas gets chilly at night - who woulda thought.) it was time to hit the B for some 5/T action. When I got there around 8 there was only two games running. Fortunately for me I got into the right game.
The lineup itself was above average from my 5/T experience, mainly due to a drunk whale, and another punter/recreational. The drunk whale ended up being in for ~8k, leaving with none of it. Bad news - I was unable to profit from him directly - BUT probably still did indirectly.
In he first interesting hand of the night there is a straddle from the second recreational. Drunk whale makes it 50 to go in the CO. The BTN who is a weak reg flats, and we make it 270 to go with A
Q
The straddle bumps it up to 480, and it folds to us. He has about 950 total, so we decide to jam it all in there. Unfortunately he wakes up with KK, but we suck out (life loves us?) with a board run out of A28AT.
After donating some money back because we stink - the interesting dynamic of the table sees us limp UTG with K
Q
. We go 6 way to a flop of Q
J
2
. The blinds check to us and we bet 50. One weak reg calls, and so does drunk whale. The turn is the not so lovely T
and we decide to check. Both players check behind us and we see a 7
on the river. At this point in sure I have the best hand and wager 100. Drunk whale calls and we’re good.
In our last interesting hand we make it 40 to go from MP1 over a limper with A
A
. Both of the aforementioned recs call and we go to a flop of Q
4
4
I decide to check as these villains have a tendency to blast off, and I’d rather give them a chance to bet with their air instead of taking it down. Unfortunately it checks through and we see a turn: the 7
. We can’t check this time, and wager 80. Same villain from H1 calls and the drunk whale folds. The river is the 4
. We decide on a weird over bet since his calling range should be inelastic to sizing. We wager 320, but instead he pulls a fast one on us and jams for 1200 total. We toss in the ****it call and if you have the 4 you got it, but he flips over Q5 and we take it down. One more for the good guys.
All in all successful first night. Excited for day two.
