How are they this year? How long are the wait times for 1/3, 2/5, 5/10 NLHE at different times of day? Are there games 24/7?

Pics will be awesome.

Wait times not as long as most of the strip casinos, at least in the afternoons/evenings. Dealers are a mixed bag, as in most years (some are newbies). Vax required through Clear Health app. No TR points for cash games. Tables are decent, with backlighting on the rail that makes it easy to read cards (see photo).

No points or comps at all? That's kinda lame. I'm planning to play one of the WSOP events and want to avoid the long registration lines, and since I don't have a car I don't want to make a special trip to register ahead of time. So I plan to go to the Rio at 5 or 6am, register when it's quiet, and then play cash till my event starts at 11am.

Thanks for the pic!

?? The cash tables have auto-shufflers. It's there to the left of the rack.

Did you ever get TR points in the cash game area in the past? I thought it was always that way.

The fact that they have auto shufflers this year has to be a major improvement. Dealers have never been good, I doubt they can be much worse than in previous years.

You’ll want to check Bravo, but seems like WSOP cash games don’t open up until late morning at earliest, so you’re hope to play cash at Rio in AM might not work. I was there Wednesday thru Saturday at night and never saw long registration lines in the 3-4 times I walked thru that area.

For sure shuffle machines at all tables I played.

I asked about any card comps and someone said to talk to check in desk/floor and let them know how long. Never bothered, since poker wouldn’t do much and I don’t play any other games to gain status/points.

You get a $10 comp per day for cash games. You have to give your card to the checkin desk after you are done playing and they put $10 worth of RCs on your card. It takes 24-48hrs for it to show up on your card. Every cash game table has auto shuffle.

Oh that's interesting. Is there a time minimum?

When I played in the King's Lounge, they swiped my card. When I played 2/5 NL outside it, they did not.

The 5/10 NL games all around town are tough. I played at Rio, Wynn, Aria, Bellagio, and Resorts World during my week stay. Mostly tight play with very little action, unless a European player gets a strong draw, then he is aggressive. Bellagio and Aria were full of foreigners, barely any English being spoken at my tables, people changing tables often. I was shown the nuts many times after big bets. I don't think they are worth playing right now. I enjoyed the Saturday night game I played at Resorts World, it resembled a home game, as almost everyone at the table knew each other. I wouldn't make a trip just to play NL cash.

The cash tables were never "connected", not even with electricity for shufflers. So there was no Bravo card readers to record your time on the table. Don't know about the fancy tables this year.

That doesn't sound very enjoyable to me.

I would rather hear people conversing with each other than sit in silence all day with some of the people looking like they are miserable to be there.

Played one session of PLO at Rio and it went 'fine'. Large gap in Dealer skill set and there was plenty of action.

I think tournament entries are way down so cash availability has been good .. and it's been running 24 hours I think (at least every time I look at Bravo there are games running).

Yes, if you go to the desk after you play they will do something on your card. Not sure how they track how long you've play. Perhaps they do have a Bravo screen but it's just not hooked up to the tables.

Yes, Resorts World can be the wild west of poker games. I saw rabbit hunting, deal making .. everything you might see at a home game (or at least a very high limit table). Not so much the basic 1/3 table, but most any other table was being run by the Players so to speak. Yes, there were a couple of Dealers who tried to step in, but for the most part the Players run the table. I had a wonderful time, but I will definitely agree that it's not an atmosphere for everyone. GL

this is what the cash games during the WSOP used to be like in the Rio conference center like 7-10 years ago. Looks pretty tame in 2021.

at least the tables have been upgraded from the equivalent of a table cloth covering a card table back in those days.

As much as I had numerous complaints about the Rio/WSOP, the King's Lounge table and chairs were very comfortable and spread out. The sandwiches go very quickly, so get them while they are there.

The way they try and justify the high time charges. I never saw any personally, but I was told they were there. They had potato chips, candy still in the evening for the taking.

Both the chairs and tables in King's Lounge are pretty awful for the exceptionally tall. The chairs don't go up high enough to comfortably let your legs rest straight down, and you are blocked from extending your legs out in front of you. My opinion, and randomly heard two other tall guys complaining about it to each other in the hallway!

And the table surface is awkward. If a card slides off the felt part, have fun picking it up off the smooth plastic (and not exposing it in the process). And one dealer complained that they were harder to pitch the cards on then regular tables.

So yeah, not hell on earth or anything, but they were probably designed more for fashion than function.

I am 5 foot 7, the chairs were comfy for me. I forgot about the cards sliding off the table into the area where you put your chips, that was annoying.
