My last trip, I grabbed my bag from baggage claim, walked out the nearest exit, and was in a cab with zero wait. In the few cites that cab lines exist like Vegas I still find cabs to be just as convenient as anything.
On my way back to the airport, after checking some bags earlier in the day, several people ahead of me who had retrieved their bags and ordered uber/lyft were still standing in the designated waiting area for them while I grabbed my bags after them and got in a taxi and was on my way well before their ride arrived. Going between hotels was just as convenient.
Uber/Lyft is great in most cities due to the convenience factor (and I use them almost exclusively everywhere else). In vegas, I don't care if it is a couple dollars cheaper I just want what is most convenient option, and I have recently found the cab lines to be shorter and gotten me on my way (and to my destination) quicker. Also at many places I don't want to figure out where the uber/lyft pick up is, I just walk out the front door and am on my way. I have never felt the need to order an Uber/Lyft in Vegas, in most cases I have felt they would take longer to arrive/coordinate.
