I haven’t taken them enough in Vegas to know if it’s true there, but in sf uber matching algorithms and time estimates are better than lyft, so if it’s a busy time or I’m in a hurry I usually go with uber for that reason.
From my understanding talking to Lyft and Uber drivers, Lyft is much better for the full-time drivers, as they have what is essentially a rake back program for portion(s) of Lyft's fee based on certain ride mile stones. One driver told me if you drive a LOT LOT, you can almost earn back 100% of the Lyft fee.

Of course there are, geez, how hard is it to imagine? Everything's relative. Some of my favorite Vegas trips were the ones in my early 20s when I was dirt poor. There's enjoyment in finding the cheap eat spots, and when the money means something to you, grinding a $20 bill in a penny machine and hitting a bonus is a blast. Granted, when I was doing it the strip had Hotel San Remo, the Boardwalk, the New Frontier, and Westward Ho. It was either Westward Ho or New Frontier that had a $3 all-you-can-eat pasta bar (with a salad bar!). Westward Ho you could get a beer and a shot of Jack Daniels for $2. You were supposed to be limited to two (maybe even one?), but the bartenders usually didn't care.
