Count me among those that didn't know crack whroes had understudies. Good to see them passing on their talents to the next generation.

I wonder if they walk to the airport when they go on vacation?

uber could double their prices and i would still take them over taxis in vegas.
+1 There is no comparison. Lyft/Uber is way to go.

Taxis in Vegas are the nut low!

Any "long hauling" AKA Overcharging in Lyft/Uber is typically when driver was a former taxi driver. Just have them use the "app" directions. If you feel you've been long-hauled just contact Uber/Lyft via the app and they will respond within an hour, often sooner.

Have they gotten Uber/Lyft cars that can take mobility scooters yet?

They have cars with trunks, yes.

+1

A friend suggested Presidential Limo some time ago and I've never looked back. Can be somewhat pricey, but the zero wait, legroom and pit stop at the Vons on the way to the strip for cheap booze, water and munchies makes the cost not so bad. Some will stop at the famous sign at no charge for pics too.

Of course tipping well helps.

He would probably have to order the SUV, they're more expensive unless the scooter will fit in the trunk of a Toyota Camry.

I can't physically take it apart myself, but I'm quite sure an Uber driver doesn't want to be doing that when he picks me up, and again when he drops me off.

Guess I'll just stick with the mobility cab I've used for the last few years

If you have the American Express Platinum card, you are getting $15/month (no carry over month to month, it is a use it or lose it thing). If you do much traveling at all, then it is not difficult at all to extract more value from the card than the annual fee will set you back...

(side note: they are also good for the UberEats deliveries)

I've used Omni, but same principle...not having to deal with waiting is a good thing as is not stressing about whether you are going to get long-hauled (or worse, simply get stuck in traffic somewhere as you watch the meter increase in those small increments).

People who sign up for the first time gets a first ride credit. Lyft is $50 which is good enough for most first rides in Vegas. Last year when I did Uber my first ride was also free but unsure what the value was.

If you do your first ride free get one of the higher end vehicles to use your entire $50.

Out of curiosity, are cabs still bad about trying to longhaul people?

They are much better the last couple of years..I think the taxi companies had to up their game in lieu of the Uber competition.

Now if they longhaul you and get reported, they could get severe punishment..

Thanks. Figured that was likely the case and they had to cut the BS with the Uber/Lyft competition now.

still the cabs cost double or triple the price, most of the cabbies are still scumbags, the cars are ****tier than lyft or uber, the lines are longer and you have do deal with some useless dickbag opening the cab door for you at hotels, asking you where you're going as you get in the cab as though he has to translate for the cabbie as he sticks he hand out expecting money for doing nothing.

Marky,

Looks like Vegas has Assist and Wheelchair accessible, though no wheelchair cars available right now.

Just to beat this dead horse some more:

**** Vegas taxis. I'm sick and tired of getting long-hauled, asking to not get long-hauled, having to yell at them to charge me less "or else" when they do long-haul me to and from the airport.

Uber is the best thing that happened to Las Vegas. Not all taxi drivers are bad apples, but there are enough scummy ones that I'm happy to vote with my wallet and use Uber every time.

The final straw for me was two years ago when an early morning taxi turned onto the freeway to go to the airport. I pitched a fit and I haven't been in a Vegas taxi since.

Are taxis better behaved today? I don't care to find out, that ship has sailed.

I should ask the reverse question of what came up earlier in the thread:
For those of you advocating for Uber, what makes you prefer that over Lyft?

And in December you get an extra $20 bringing the total to $35 for the month and $200 for the year.

it's really the same thing. sometimes one is surging when the other isn't. so if i open uber for example and it's not surging or it has a long wait i'll check lyft- otherwise i'll just take uber. a lot of drivers drive for both.

That's good to know. Thanks very much, El Diablo.

If none are around in the summer, I'll just stick with the cabbie I've been using for the last few years.
