Will be arriving around 1pm next Monday and staying at PH just curious what is the best mode of transport? is Shuttle +EV at all? I will be alone so wanted to avoid cabbing it and uber can sometimes be frustrating at some airports

Thanks guys!

Depends on your definition of ‘best’. I don’t think I ever used a shuttle. Taxi and Uber are super easy at LAS and I also walked to the Strip a couple times.

Taxi or Uber

Taxi, walk to taxi line, pay slightly more

Uber/Lyft, walk to rideshare section just past passenger pickup and up a few floors on the elevator, play slightly less

Shuttle will be slower

Uber is best thing to hit vegas since Bugsy Segal. Shuttle is actually preferable to taxi as they take about the same time only the shuttle is dropping other folks off while the taxi is driving in circles.

I always use Uber casino hopping around town, but when I arrive at the airport, I have found it much better to spend a few extra bucks and take a taxi to my hotel..Uber from the airport can be a real ****show..

I guess YMMV as I've has the opposite experience. I use Lyft and had zero issues with a quick trip from and to the airport.

If you take a taxi don't let him take you via the tunnel/highway. They do that bc they make more money. Tell him as soon as you get in local roads please.

Shuttle is cheapest but usually takes the longest. They don't leave until the vehicle is nearly full. It will often make multiple stops before your destination. It has taken me over an hour to get from the airport to the hotel. It can be an okay if you have the time.

I didn't think anyone else did the walk thing. Kind of like a puzzle leaving the airport. Good to have company.

Is this walk really pedestrian friendly?

Quick answer: No

Longer answer: No, because most American humans are so perfectly expectant.

Real answer: Modern America is purposely non-walkable in many regards. Engineers have made this so. I'm not talking about walking through the neighborhood. I'm talking about walking between communities, from suburb to suburb, or city to suburb.

If you do that kind of walking/running (which I did for two years, while reclaiming my health) you will encounter bridges with no walkway. You will encounter roads without sidewalks, and many other barriers.

My favorite walk from the airport was with a 40lb backpack. Walked to the Rio...in June. Also walked that trip from the Rio to downtown. Walking is the pace the earth was meant to be traveled.

To an outlier, the Orleans, round trip air port to Orleans is $16. I would guess via cab its at least $40 and perhaps Uber is $30. The longest it has taken me to get from the airport to any casino, strip or otherwise, is 35 minutes, entry of shuttle to exit.

There are other stops( 2-3) but not a problem, perhaps you can save 20 minutes, one way, but still have to deal with cab long hauling, etc... If in a hurry and there is no cab line, take it but its not an improvement over the shuttle.

Of course, with the shuttle and if traveling with more than 1 you can calculate the costs.

Airport to the Strip is pretty easy with quality sidewalks all along the way and IIRC only two minor spots where you have to cross a road without a light.

You leave the airport to the north through the departure area and walk past long term parking to get to Paradise road. Keep walking North until you hit Tropicana and turn left to get to MGM. Stay on Paradise and turn left on Harmon if you want to get to center Strip.

It’s ~2.3 miles to MGM and ~2.8 miles to Planet Hollywood.

madlex,

You seem to constantly bring up and reccomend walking from the airport to the strip like it's a normal thing to do. It's bad advice. Please stop.

This is correct.

Shuttle saves you maybe $5 or $6 over a Lyft/Uber and takes at least another 15-20 minutes.

i've always taken uber/lyft from the airport since it's been available and payed at least 50 pct less than a taxi would cost. and unlike taxis which at least 50 pct of the time were always miserable, the uber rides have always been pleasant.

uber could double their prices and i would still take them over taxis in vegas.
