Another blow to LV poker...But the Monte Carlo will be reopening their room once the remodel is done. I guess Suncoast couldn't compete with Red Rock hell I didn't even know they had a poker room.

I guess you were right they aren't reopening it but someone did say they were maybe they found out it wasn't profitable for them.

I've played some late night $3-6 spread limit drunkard sessions there before on occasion, had fun but the games typically die by 1 AM. the one thing I've experienced there that I've never seen anywhere else is that you can get cans of red bull comped from the waitress.

oh well, RIP suncoast poker room. that's a big blow to the retirees who populate that room in droves during the day. guess the red rock better double up on dealers for the morning sessions.

That stinks, one of the last places that spread low limits stud semi regularly. I have a feeling a small room like this needs just a couple of there old regs to keel over to make it not worth having a room anymore.

Three tables of Stud. When is the last time a Vegas poker room had three stud games?

Suncoast had it a few times over the last few years after we moved the Hoggie there from Sam's Town, which is probably the only other Las Vegas casino with three tables of stud cash games outside of WSOP in the past decade.

I wonder if Suncoast underestimated how many casino players and spouses that poker room brought in. This seems like a mistake to me but I guess that all depends on what they do with that space.

Probably end up doing nothing. Look at Linq since they closed the room. Nothing of substance, just a few machines. Some bean counter probably made the mistake of thinking the machines make $x per square foot, let's make more square feet of machine space. That does no good at all unless they get more people into the casino to go into that space.

the linq room was always dead, and they figure that most of the players there would go to Harrahs or Flamingo. They were probably right. Even if the slots don't do great, it was almost certainly the right call.

The linq room was not dead by the end of its run

I was in there almost every day

They had two 100 dollar raffles a day timed to ensure at least the grinders would be there and their tourneys other than maybe the first one would always get runners

Four tables and it was 4/4 every weekend night and 1-2 tables during the week from about 4 pm to 2 am

It served a great niche as it was 1/1 and 50 buy-in and it was great cause max was 300!

Cocktails were lightning fast and if you were carddead you paid two a round and the few novices at each table would make for slow games

Now the space gets no action

Was pry a ten dollar /hr winner at that game but drank like a fish and blacked out some nights...raffles helped as people would have flights and just give you there tickets

The Linq actually got a fifth table a few months before it closed because it regularly filled all 4 tables. Then they filled all 5 games every weekend with sometimes long lists, usually 3-4 games of holdem and they had a popular 1-1 plo game that got 1-2 tables on the weekends. It was rumored it was closed because Harrah's and flamingo didn't like that they were losing players to 1-1 games.

If true, pretty stupid they would cannibalize themselves by closing it down.

I kind of agree with closing it for those reasons, there's no reason for the same company to have 3 poker rooms all right next to each other in today's poker economy. Same reason Luxor and Monte Carlo closed.

They are completely different rooms from a player's perspective. Harrah's is old and grungy, Flamingo is REALLY old and REALLY grungy. The Linq is new and modern, the room was close to the Strip sidewalk and that cool beer bar. The dealers, including Trooper, were good and fun.

When I play at Harrah's and the Dirty Bird now, in no way does it remind me of playing at the Linq room.

so true...huge percentage of linq players never played at harrahs and flamingo.....night and day ambience, dealers, open location, stakes, drinks, etc etc

management probably took none of these in account and probably just looked at a map

Suncoast was mostly fixed and spread limit. Most common games were 2-6 SLH, 2-10 SLStud8, 4/8 FLStud8 and 4/8 O8. It would occasionally get a NLH game and years ago had a big 2/5 on Monday nights and a Wednesday mixed game.

The problem with the Suncoast poker room was, while being in an affluent part of town, all of those players who lived close would rather play the bigger and better games at Red Rock for an additional 10 min drive.

I used to be in a bowling league there for a year and never stepped foot in their poker room (also bad location way in the back). The average age of the patron in that place has to be well into the early 60s.
