Success at bally's on the 17th this month. I had 2 comped nights in the south tower and got upgraded to a jr suite in the north tower. This was the 1st time trying the $20 trick and I will be trying it again at the rio this monday.

Success at Bally's today. Already had a comped north tower deluxe room, got a Jr suite.

I asked the guy for the upgrade, whatever he could do, I will take care of you rather then the hotel. He said give me a second. He went in the back office to talk to his mgr. Comes back out and see's the hundo ( I needed change) in my hand. He then tells me he has a grand suite for me, has a sunken jacuzzi blah blah blah, I tell him I don't need the sunken tub, hand him the hundo and ask him for change twice. He is palming the hundo as he has me sign the paperwork. I sign he hands me the keys and then I ask him for my change. I said just give me $75 back.

He goes "oh", I can't do the grand suite for $25, I have to kick back my mgr too. I said well I told you I don't need a sunken tub so just give me a different room.

He winds up giving me the jr suite which honestly isn't that much diff from a reg North tower deluxe room. It's a little bigger and has an extra sink, big ****ing deal.

So yes the bribe works at Bally's. The guy actually told me that the $25 tip was a great way for him to end his day.

Worked at Mandalay Bay. Offered a suite at The Hotel but need 2 queens, so took a strip view room. View was awesome. Also received $25 dollar credit at the pool.

sorry, I meant would they be more or less inclined to give me a nice upgrade. Also, say if I checked in for a 20 day stay and when i give them sandwich it doesn't work. Should I try again later that day or another day with a different person.

For that long a stay I'd think you would need to go a bit higher than a buck a day. Maybe try $100, and even then I wouldn't be surpised if they couldn't swing an unofficial upgrade.

You mean you would actually consider changing rooms repeatedly during your trip?

God I should write a book. You go up to the check in person.

You: "Hi i'm checking in",

Check in person: Welcome to XYZ Hotel Mr. So and So.

You: "Thank You, I have a reservation for 123 nights, by any chance are there any complimentary upgrades available? I HAVE NO PROBLEM TAKING CARE OF YOU PERSONALLY FOR WHATEVER YOU CAN DO FOR ME, I'D MUCH RATHER PUT A NICE TIP IN YOUR POCKET THEN EXTRA MONEY FOR XYZ HOTEL, WE BOTH KNOW THEY DON'T NEED IT HAHAHAHA"!

The bolded part works like a charm and I always use it. No need to fold up a $20 bill between your CC and ID. That's very amateur.

Tell them straight up you will be more then happy to take care of them and they will do whatever they can possibly do. For extra consideration you can tell them it's your wifes birthday, your anniversary, anniversary of the first time you went backdoor on your wife, etc.....

Ask them to show you what the room looks like, they usually have a brochure showing the different rooms at the front desk.

After they hand you the keys to a nice room then give them the tip, be it $20, $25, $30, $50 or $100.

Hey i'd like just to know if you can come back later to a different check-in person if it doesn't work the first time? or is it a one time thing?

I'd like to see if I understand your train-of-thought here. You would actually walk up to the desk, attempt to bribe the clerk so you can pay to get your free strip view upgrade or whatever, fail at that and say "no thanks, I'll check in later", then get in the next line and start over again? I'm trying very hard to not insult you BTW.

BB has it right. All this folding and hiding the $20 and related BS is for a bunch of people who learned about bribery by reading a website about it. Kind of like looking up money laundering in the dictionary. Just smile, be a man, ask nicely for what you want, and let the clerk know you'll help them out if they help you out. Just stayed at Mirage in an 1100sq ft suite for an extra $75 on a Saturday doing that.

It is not a one time thing, but after they turn you down they put you in the Turned Down Database (TDD). The records are not purged for 13.74 hours, so you will have to wait until then. If they are using the mod 2.0 version of TDD, then you can wait only 5.67 hours if you alter your appearance somewhat on the second trip, as it relies on facial recognition factors to reject the bribe.

haha, feel free to insult me. I have never been to a hotel, any hotel EVER. I wasn't going to say no thanks i'll check in later, i was just going to check in and then later ask if i can get an upgrade to my room or is that something that can only be done in the initial check-in that everyone else in the world but me knows.

...NICE ONE pokaaface
