This time is no different. Heading to LV for a concert and some pokering. Show is Jerry Joseph with special guest/backing band Kareeta. Imma yuge JJ fan (to the point of obsession, perhaps). He wrote many of the epic Widespread Panic songs like Climb To Safety, North, Light is Like Water, Second Skin and their latest single We Walk Each Other Home, co-written with Panic lead singer JB. I'm looking forward to this new collaboration with an unknown to me backing band.

Plan is to drive over Sunday morning, hopefully missing any NASCAR traffic, staying two nights at the 'Shoe. Concert is at the Sand Dollar Lounge on Spring Mountain Sunday evening. Monday thru Tuesday is for the pokers and some degeneracy with my co-pilot for this trip "M" with whom I've been to LV many times, a self described Rush-head. A JJ virgin, if he actually goes to the show with me.

Nice. It's been quiet on the trip report front lately,

Something to get you (me!) psyched for Sunday. This is a bigger stage, a bigger backing band, better light show, etc then we'll see at the Sand Dollar Lounge, but I think it could be epic. Reports from last night's show, the tour opener, are having me salivating for what we'll see Sunday (last night of the first 'leg' of the tour)

I saw Jerry the first time sitting in with Panic in 97 at Park City, UT then later that summer with his band The Jackmormons at the High Sierra Music Fest x2. That was enough to hook me. Been a devoted follower ever since. Solo, with the Jackmormons, as the Denmark Veseys with his drummer, with the Dimpkler Brothers from Sweden etc. 3 night stands in Scio or Portland, SLC, Virginia City, 3 night runs thru Az (FLG, PHX, TUC), Silver City NM. Colorado, California, basically everywhere West of the Mississippi.

It's been since Aug, and I'm really jonesin' for a show. Can't believe I'm passing on eL lAy and Sandy Eggo this weekend, but I got things to do.

Up $15 at VP, strapped on the feedbag at Guy's joint between Show n Paris after a few drinks at VP bar. Gonna nap for an hour or two before the free show tonight. Pics to follow.

Sign on the door of the Sand Dollar says "No cover, tip the band". So I did last night (-$20)

Got back to the 'Shoe adjust after 2am (3am where I woke up) and was briefly considering sitting down at the 1-3 table but opted not to. 7 hours later, I'm cleaned up and downstairs mashing VP deciding where to play today.
