The day they remove the plexiglass & masks at the casinos would be like Poker Independence Day.

I'm guilty of it and I've seen another person hit their head/face on that damn glass while reaching under the table and forgetting that the glass is still there to greet you on the way up.
----
Oh yeah and the fact that Corona causes games to be short handed or limited capacity is pretty annoying too. I had a dealer literally mention to a recreational player that she should not play against me heads up. The table broke and it was me and some rec female that tried to post a blind heads-up, but the dealer persuaded her while pointing at me that it's probably not a good idea. Eventually they moved both of us to new tables, but the lack of 9-handed or room capacity causes games to break quicker IMO.

Masks and plexiglass are a dealbreaker for me. I haven't played live poker since February 2020, and I live close to a bunch of great card rooms in Las Vegas. And I'm not a super strong player. I just love to play. I talk a lot, and occasionally make a friend or two at the table. So masks and plexiglass change that dynamic. I suspect there's plenty of other "soft money" recs who enjoy the social aspects of a game of poker that are also staying home.

I understand some people want to feel safe and casinos and governments like to show they are doing something, so if this continues for eternity, it continues. I just won't play. It's not about ME, so I won't put up much of a fuss about all of these extra precautions. But I must say that I'm starting to become really confused by them, especially since it's mid-May 2021.

I've done pretty much everything I've been asked to do for 14 months. Some of it made sense to me. Some of it didn't. I'll certainly keep doing all this stuff if that's the plan, but I really hope that's not the plan. There's got to actually be someone in a position of power or leadership who's thought this problem through in a rational way.

If we don't allow people the CHOICE to take off their masks, then we certainly won't allow it in a few months, because the weather starts to turn cooler at that point, and flu season is upon us. Summer is really the only time to make a move. It's now or never, with regards to masks and plexiglass. If we can't go back by June or July in Las Vegas to something resembling a normal poker game, we can never go back.

Anyone who wants to wear a mask at the poker table should certainly be welcomed to wear it. For another five months, for another five years, whatever. No one's judging them, and no one's bothered by it. I just don't want to do it, and I suspect there are plenty of others who feel the same way I do.

So I think the "lightly inconvenienced for a few more months in the interest of public health" crowd really doesn't fully comprehend what they're getting themselves into. We have a really small window of time here, to return to something closer to normal. We should take it. I don't know why others aren't seeing this opportunity, too. If we're fortunate enough to take off the masks and remove the plexiglass during this seasonal window, additional public restrictions become a lot more difficult to impose, unless they're absolutely necessary.

I haven't played poker in over a year. I have little ones at home who I don't want to bring home any virus to.

I can't wait to play. When I do, I'm 100% wearing a mask and might even take more precautions.

I agree with many others who have posted -- everyone should have the choice to wear a mask and not feel bad about wearing/not wearing.

But I don't know how I would feel sitting at a table with 7-8 other people who are not wearing masks, talking, eating, etc. I think I'd get up.

Can't wait for this pandemic to be declared over, but THAT might not happen for a while.

And where does this "crowd" get this particular delusion from? I mean, this is an incredibly arbitrary doomsday fantasy with no basis in evidence. Plexiglass is already being removed from various casinos. Masks are no longer required at MGM pool areas. Where is your evidence for the above?

Plexiglass has been removed from one poker room, just one. That's because they made it difficult for their employees to not get a vaccine and they got 88% of them vaccinated. There's no sign the other casinos will do this or that the plexiglass will come down any time soon and the governor has no plan whatsoever to end the indoor mask mandate.

Nevada never had an outdoor mask mandate.

Fair point. "Never" is the wrong word to use. I simply meant that if the masks and plexiglass aren't gone in September, the timeline is years instead of months, because it would be foolish to remove those restrictions right before the winter.

I wasn't aware that the plexiglass is already coming down in a lot of poker rooms. I heard someone mention it happened at the Wynn, but didn't know it was happening everywhere. This is great news, and the timing is certainly correct.

Wynn is the only one he's wrong. There are two other casinos but they don't have poker. The others won't unless they can get 80% of employees to take a vaccine.

Okay. Thank you for the accurate information. This update is disappointing. 80% is a very high bar to reach. Perhaps my future poker play will have to be exclusively at the Wynn, especially if they ever decide to ease the mask mandate.

I definitely appreciate all of the updates that many of you provide in these threads. I don't follow the news that closely, and I haven't been to a poker room in a long time, so I use this site as a source for the latest info.

I'm just a rec who's jonesing to play some cards, like a few others here!

I'm not wrong. I stated that plexiglass is being removed from various casinos, which is correct. I stated that to illustrate that things are opening up slowly, which they are. Stop letting your biases cloud your reading comprehension.

Just 3 of them, out of 144 Las Vegas Casinos. I explained why. The others have to get 80% vaccinated. That's a high bar. No end to masks in sight.

The people you need to say this to are Sisolak and the Gaming Commission.

The pools did, though (or at least some of them).

So back to the topic of the thread... We put in 21 hours on the strip last Thurs, Fri, Sat. 2-5 at Caesars, Venetian, and Bellagio.

Games were strangely softer than ever. A lot of CA players who said they were planning to enjoy the time off work with nearly full pay for as long as it lasts (extra fed unemployment add on)

If you have been putting off a trip and you're vaccinated, this is a great time to get some monies.... Come on out.

Agreed the pools most definitely did, if you were lounging around and not actually in the pool, you had to wear a mask and security came around and reminded everyone who didn't have a mask on.
