I am impressed by those that have the stomach to let it play out (IIRC, a bunch of UMBC grads out in vegas who bet on them to upset #1 seeded Virginia chose to take those winnings and put it all on UMBC the next round; though it is a bit different, it is still that "let-it-ride" mentality).
You make plenty of sense and are coming from a rational and logical position.
If I had bought it with any intention or expectation of winning I think my perspective would be much closer to your own.
This was a true “hey this would be cool for my parents to frame and they can say they supported the team from the beginning.” With my mom being a native a sports ticket just seemed like a quirky and fun gift that has a sweet sweat attached.
Now the problem is: I called my Mom last night and asked her if she has the ticket in a safe place and she said
“That piece of paper with the hockey bet on it? Yea I think I kept it for you here somewhere.”
I’m hoping she hasn’t misplaced it over the last 6 months. She’s not that old and very sharp so I’m hoping she tucked it away and forgot about it instead of like leaving it on her home desk for 6 months and burying it under paid utility bills
