So we just made the Stanley Cup Finals and the WSOP is just around the corner. Surprised we haven't had a thread about the Knights yet. This is so amazing for the city after the tragedy of the shooting and I feel like the city has been brought together in celebration of our team's success.

I know the Raiders are coming soon but it won't feel the same as a team that's a real Vegas original. People can whine about expansion rules but it doesn't change how great the team's been for the city.

it is incredible what they've done. It is not easy to win a playoff series, let alone get to the Stanley Cup Finals. VGK may never have another season like this ever again so I am just enjoying and savoring the ride.

I remember seeing 150 to 200-1 personally. Didn't bet or shop around to see what the best price was. Their season point total over/under was worst or second worst if I recall. I think it was Colorado or Phoenix which was worst and a point or so less than the VGK over/under.

It was 500-1 at the highest at the start of season. They money they'll lose should be more than made up by the traffic generated by hosting the Cup and playing through four series.

Their opponent:

Washington wins Vegas gets home ice. Tampa wins then Tampa gets home ice.

Went to a few games this year and its just an amazing experience is the only way to put it. Ive been to a lot of hockey games over the years but none of them came close to the vegas games, it was more like a party than a game. Only thing that sucked is they got so good the prices just went straight through the roof.

That is 20k if they win. Are you going to hedge? Just curious. I know people have differing views on hedging. Some may say it is only a $100 cost and I am just going to let it ride. Others, myself included, would say its essentially just lighting 10k on fire if you chose not to hedge.

I’ve talked to my Dad about it. Honestly it was a souvenir I wanted them to keep. When they made the WCF we joked about hedging if they made the cup. I also have a neighbor who offered 2,000 for it.

I mentally parted with the bet so long ago I’ve told my parents if it wins we’ll pay down a big chunk of the rest of their mortgage. If it loses I’ll still help them with some payments. So I’m hedging their bet

Justin Bourne has a pretty good article about them in The Athletic today.

Basically, for all the griping about how they got a great team in the expansion draft, absolutely nobody -- including pro hockey lifers -- had them being anywhere near this competitive this year.

It also touches on how pissy other fanbases are that VGK gets a taste of glory this quickly, while they're languishing in multi-decade playoff win droughts.

I'm a LAK fan, but I'm absolutely rooting for the Knights. I only see this being good for hockey, and good for Vegas. Incredible story.

Im so sick of the "rigged" expansion draft excuse.... How about the 500 million that the Knights agreed to pay the nhl teams to join the league???????

You dont ever hear anyone mention that part of the "rigged" draft.

Yeah it was designed differently to give Vegas a fair shot at being competitive but every other teams GM took the money and agreed to the terms of the expansion rules.
