This will be my first post in what hopefully will become my most epic trip yet.
I am in the process of leaving my job, and as such i will also liquidate my assets and try a new avenue in life.

This is NOT a moving to Vegas thread, so please dont be alarmed (or hyped)

I am now a 36 year old man, and i will probably quit the daily 9-5 working life for now.
After years of building a career, and and a life, i have arrived at the conclusion that this does not interest me, and i will focus on creating a living of my 4 interests in life. These are running, food, poker and travel

Exactly what i will be doing is still somewhat uncertain, but no matter where this journey takes me, i will open with 3 months in Vegas, where i will be playing poker alot.

Background

I play online on pokerrrr2, which is the main app in scandinavia for cash games online.
These cashgames can``t really be compared to anything, as they have such a unique ecosystem, which then again creates a playing enviroment which is just unreal.

On a given sunday, there is about 30-40 different clubs running 1-3 games each, which consists of 90% PLO5 with stakes of 5-10 NOK and above.
These all play 200bb+ deep, with a mandatory straddle.

For these games, i´`m up about 100k NOK the last 3 months, and i will still be playing these games while im in Vegas.
The games are running mostly from 1900 local time, which means they start around 10 in the morning in Vegas.

What i need from you
I need help deciding where to live, how to live and generally input on my plans.

The plan is to arrive and spend the first 14 days in hotel at the strip. Will probably just do Park MGM for the whole duration.
After that i need a place to stay that is safe, where i can setup a computer and play with 2 monitors, and which is also in a spot where transport to the strip will be decent.

Will probably just do uber, as renting a car for a long periode like this seems like a massive leak moneywise?

I also need some input on running routes if possible. I try to run aprox 5-15km a day, and inputs here would be great.


Poker
The goal for this trip, is to further build my liferoll, while i also work on developing my next step in work life.
Cash wise, i will have around 40-100k USD after i sell my car, apartment etc, while i also have aprox 20k in crypto which can be used (not for poker) and i hope to build a total of 20k more after 3 months in Vegas.

For this to happen, i would need to win aprox 41k USD in total, as i am setting my budget on living at 7k/month, including airfare, the first 2 weeks at hotel, and housing after hotel.
Will probably also purchase a new computer + monitors in the US, as i dont want to travel with so much luggage.

I will be playing PLO in Aria, Wynn and Bellagio, and MTT`s during series/events wich seems decent.

No plans on playing NL, but will probably go to some meetup games for fun.


Timeline
Will probably 100% reach a conclusion on this during feb, as i am in negotation of severance package with my workplace and this will most likely be done before end of month.

after that, i will book tickets and hotel sometime in March. Hoping to have sold apartment and car by end of march, but will have to be somewhat flexible here, so dates might change some.

Always open for input, but please dont waste any time on trying to persuade me to going somewhere else etc. No matter what, this will be a 3 month trip to a city i love, where i have been several times before etc. I dont care that the games are better in texas, that masks are bad etc.

Never done anything for that long, but can you do 2.5 months airbnb?

A lot of them have cheaper monthly rates at least.


Trails or road? Plenty of off road options in Red Rock and whatever is right across the street from it. Ive probably run there half a dozen times or so. Always my go to when I have a car in Vegas.

GLGL I think 7k expenses is pretty steep ? Like you could do much better than that and that’s without being a nit. If you want a nice place, I’m sure that will make it easier to spend 7k.

There are some good threads on best games to play - I think Caesars and Wynn 2/5NL are meant to be ok but I guess sense it out when you are there.

For PLO I’m unsure but I’m sure you can find the answer. Looks like you already have your favourite spots ready to go.

7k seems high to me, too, unless you are adding in the computer and monitors? Seems as if you could live for much cheaper, but I've never lived in Vegas.

Not sure how you’re planning to access cash, but you may want to look into getting a box at a casino if you’re bringing cash or get qualified for a marker.

I have to be honest, the rona is as sick as i've ever been. I've been lucky in my life, never been hospitalized with anything, but this **** had me on the ropes.

Still in bad shape, but the fever and muscle pain is starting to ease up.
Havent been able to eat for 4-5 days, not being able to take a dump etc. Only drinking water, and some crackers.

Oh and im vaccinated, 2 times. Cant imagine how awfull this disease was before we had the vaccine.

PS: I dont want to start a discussion about covid, vaccine or anything. Do what you feel is best for you. Im just sharing my experience.

Anyways, my boss is coming into town on thursday, and we will hopefully come to a agreement then. Seeing as we are now into a new month, it might **** with my schedule (in Norway, a resignation always runs from the 1th of each month. If i were to resign today, it will count from the 1th of april, and then you have from 1-6 months of resignation periode.) but im hoping it will not.

Its no bad blood here, i was pitched this new job in february 2020, and as we all know, the world changed alot in march 2020, so the job has never really became what was promised, and currently im not happy, and management is not happy. So hoping for a decent severance package, but we will see what is possible. The pros of a severance package is mostly that i will be able to leave earlier, then if i were to resign.

Also no movement on the appartment yet, as i've literally been in bed for 5 days.

Hopefully a new post will come during the weekend, with some more details.

Yes, Norway is hella weird.

But the system is built on workers rights, which means if the issue was that my employer wanted me out, i would still have 3 months of work while trying to find a new job (unless i commited a crime, which means they could have terminated me immediately.

So, a small update:

Work decision will be made on friday. Hoping for a clean break with 6 months severance. We will wait and see. Will give it 75% chance of going my way.

Trip:
Looking at flights from aprox 15.04.
Plan is to stay the first 14 days at Park MGM, with 4 nights comped, 100$ freeplay and 100$ resort credit. Flight and hotel for the first 14 days will be ballpark 1700$

During this periode, i will look at airbnbs.

I can also play my online poker on 6 phones/tablet. I dont actually HAVE to have a computer for this. So in terms of space, i could manage with a studio or a hotelroom.

Issue is im having a hard time finding good value on airbnb. Its either a shithole or 3k USD for a month in Henderson. With uber both ways each day, i might aswell stay at a hotel on the strip.

What is the chance of doing 300 hours for gold and them just hoteljump between MGM and CET? Should be no resort fees, so doable? idk.

Poker:

Ended februar up 24k NOK. 1 USD = 9 NOK, so aprox 2.7k USD
Were on track to do a 60k month, but lost 23k during the last 5 days before covid and then no play during covid.

March has started with a bang, up 35k NOK after 5 days.

These games are something else. Evert 15 hand, single board bombpot for 15bb each. 8 players in the hand. PLO5. And people stack off with shitloads of hands that are not the nuts. Had a 336 board where i had 663xx on hand, we got it in for 400bb on the flop. He had 63442, basicly zero percent.

Anyways, almost done with covid. General fitness is fine, some fatigue and some coughing/soar throat. But no real issues anymore.

Hope all is well, and hopefull just over 1 month until i come back to the mighty USA and Vegas.

No way I would want to do that. I've got to have a kitchen for any stay longer than a few days. Jumping back and forth there's also going to be weekends with conventions or whatever where rooms are $300+ per night everywhere on the strip and then you're moving off strip and back.

I wonder if you're getting some kind of "foreigner rate" on airbnb. I don't think they do that, do they? I'm seeing a ton of places under 3k for the month of May. Are you putting in 4 weeks for your stay dates? You get a monthly discount at a lot of places when you put that in the dates. Maybe put in only a month or week at a time? You may be missing a lot of places because one weekend is booked in June or something.

Top listing from my search seems way better than hotel hopping:

Thanks! Seems like i had something bugging my rates. I used incognitomode and VPN, and suddenly there is alot of solid options in Vegas on airbnb.
Will prob end up renting something in the 1500 range, will post update on that later.

Today i had my meeting with my supervisor. Things went okay, not the jackpot i was hoping for, but well.
4 months severance, all paid in full, and im able to leave work after next week. So dates might change, we will see.

As for now, issue seems to be sale of apartment and car. Im pretty sure i can hire someone to do this for me, but will wait 1 more week and see. Starting to look like i will be heading out from 15th of april, which gives me 1 month from now basicly. Should be doable!

Lufthansa 19th of april. 18 hour trip, 1 layover. Nice route.
Park MGM 19th-28th. This leaves me 9 days to find a good airbnb. Should be doable

I took a return flight 01.06, which gives me 1.5 months of Vegas.

I might extend and do a full june also, but you have to have a return date, and i think its better to have one a little earlier, and then just book a new return flight if i want to extend.


Dates got a bit skewed, as i want to celebrate easter holidays with my daugther before leaving.

So, after i booked my hotel, i still have offers for comped rooms in my Mlife account.

Is it correct that i can book as many comp stays as my account allowes?
Meaning, can i do airbnb 1 week, 4 days comp rooms, airbnb 1 week, 4 days comp room etc?

I just figured my offers would be removed/adjusted after i booked my stay.

You definitely want to look into getting CET Diamond Status as you don‘t have to pay resort fees and get to the top of the WL for poker at all Caesars properties. You can get Diamond via Status match from some hotel chains or via buying a founders card membership
