Have you ever seen him 3! before? Does “good tight” mean “tight but also 3 bets with balance” or just “tight and this bet means a top 10% hand?

Seen him 3! in several squeeze spots. It’s such a good spot for a check from a big pair, I think he’s far more likely to continue with air.

Then I bet $110. (Assume pot is $325).

How much merit is there to checking back and becoming the hero Solo Trip Report: Wynn (5/25 - 5/28) on non A/K turns/rivers?

Nap time. Games are atrocious. Gonna let people drink while I sleep.

That's not fair. No wonder I lose in Vegas.

Got in a decent game and made about 600 flopping a set. Got in for 1700 pre with AA v. AA and flopped the free roll but couldn't get there.

Random observations:

- Bellagio seems tired. Especially the poker room. Just doesn't feel like a top shelf property anymore. Wynncore and Aria are both much better properties.

- Wynn can't be beat for random rich dudes showing up out of nowhere. The Saturday 4am game was legitimately one of the best games I've ever played in. For all the crap we give the backpack/headphone crowd, I must say the pros were very good at keeping the whale engaged and not complaining about beats/losses.

- The more time I spend in Vegas the smaller the poker community feels. I recognize most of the people playing in the Wynn 2/5 games and several of them commented that they remembered me from previous trips. I get the sense that the live scene is tough and getting tougher. Even the bad players are much, much better than they used to be.

- The Vegas economy is a strange thing. Not to get political here, but there are so many people working hard in this town for what I assume is not a ton of money. I try to tip generously but the huge inequality is something I'm not really comfortable with.

- Poker starts feeling like a job pretty damn quickly. I only played for two days, ran pretty well, and was sick of playing by the end. I can't even imagine being a pro.

Till next time.

I've found it better to not play when I dont feel like it and really get in the hours when I do feel like it. If I dont get in the hours, so be it. Playing when you dont even want to be sitting there will usually lead to bad things happening. Proper mindset, or getting into the proper mindset, is key and an often overlooked attribute to winning IMO.

Would you recommend Wynn/Aria over all rooms? I'm headed out to vegas over cinco de mayo weekend and will be playing live for the first time in a while. Goal is to play mostly 2/5 but might play a little 1/3 to refresh.

Played a ton online mostly 6 max little HU- looking forward to getting some degen time in.

OP, your Bellagio statement seems to be very common. I’ve never stayed there, but am considering it for a trip including my mother and in-laws. I definitely think Wynn is the best option even if we have to cab it to other places.

Great job on the TR.

The overall level of play in Vegas has increased a lot over the past few years. I love Aria, but it has tons of pros at almost all stakes. Lots of the other rooms do as well. Best thing to do is pick one and try it out. If you don’t like it then go to the next one.

I think most 1/3 games are 100bb max with a few allowing up to $500. I know Aria 2/5 is 200bb max and Wynn shows 300bb max. Pokeratlas.com has good poker room info.

I’d stay away from playing at Caesars. Most say it’s filled with old nits and the games are horrible.

Nice ongoing TR. I have spent a few hours in Wynn poker room and can concur although I was playing 1/2.

Be warned though, 2/5 at Wynn plays more like 5/t elsewhere. I bought in for $500 when I first played there few years back and had to buy another $500 real quick.

Was there towards end of summer last year and action was great. It's a good mix of recs and regs.

It is open area but less smoke than other casino poker rooms. Oh and I really like the dealers and floor.

And FFS, don't cab it between casinos on the strip. Using Uber/Lfyt will save you enough for cheap meal.

Fwiw, I recently returned from 4 nights at Encore and mostly played there. I would say the games have more decent players and usually several good ones. But it’s offset by waiting for the rich dudes that just smile and rebuy a full buy-in repeatedly. Or other players that everyone just takes a bite out of. Or, if you can adjust, playing to type as the tourist/rich businessman you appear to be for the most part mixed in with the occasional bluff in the spots the sharks see as “obvious” to bluff at you.

Obviously this only goes so far until you are figured out of course.
