I realize that short distance sucks for cabbies, which is why I tip extra although it could be argued it’s their business risk.

However, his behavior was so obnoxious that I just paid him $10 for a $8.50 trip.

Wondering what you guys think about it. Was I wrong here?

Seems like another reason to Uber/Lyft. Lot of people don’t tip those guys if you tell them you’re going to tip there more appreciative.

Just checked into Encore.

Have booked 5 nights via Amex FHR program, which includes early check-in / late check-out, room upgrade, $100 spa credit and daily $80 credit for breakfast.

I tried the $20 trick but the check-in lady gave it back to me saying they are not allowed to accept tips during check-in. I asked if tipping after check-in was accepted, which she confirmed with a smile.

Got a room choice between panoramic top floor downtown view or strip view at encore or panoramic corner view at Wynn. While I am normally a sucker for the best view, I picked the Encore downtown view as she told me that strip view gets very noisy. Thought about the Wynn room but prefer the encore location next to the poker room and nightlife.

While I didn’t get any extras exceeding the FHR program, I tipped her the $20 anyways as it was just a pleasant check-in experience.

Hitting the poker room now and EBC nightswim later...

His behavior is outright rude, i wouldn"t tip him at all. He has no right to ask for the extra money whatever casino charges him from you.

I honestly don't understand this culture, in my understanding person should only tip for good service and tip extra only if the driver/service employee makes your experience more enjoyable/comfortable etc. What is the point of tipping when the driver complains and tries to rip you off for a few dollars?

In fact i would tell him to shut up or i would call his supervisor.

One hour wait for me to the top of the PLO list but still waiting. It’s sick these days in Vegas.

However, the poker manager told me that hotel guests can call in advance and get a call when their seat becomes available. You have a whole 60 minutes to claim it then, which made staying at Encore even more attractive to me. Not that I needed any convincing that this place rocks

Thanks for reenforcing my belief about the taxi situation.

If it had happened to me in my own country, I probably would’ve reported the incident, but in a different jurisdiction I am less sure plus I don’t want to waste my vacation time dealing with that kind of stuff

Going to EBC nightswim with two buddies tonight.

Never done it before. Any advice on what (not) to do?

Got called for the PLO game. When I go to the floor and apologizes that the dealer had mistakenly announced a seat open.

Major slow roll...

They’ll keep a seat open for an hour? That seems less than ideal...

They keep you at the top of the list. You have an hour to check in and once you do, you are then at the top of the list. They don't actually hold a seat open for you.

$80 breakfast credit every day? That's some serious breakfast!

Nice room. I'm getting spoiled to the point that I expect all hotel rooms to offer a robe (noticed it in the reflection).

As a fellow PLO player, I'm pretty glad I don't go to Vegas during WSOP to play. Those waits would definitely tilt me. Of course, I'd probably show up at 10 a.m., so maybe not so bad?

Yes, it’s $40 per person per day, but they just assume 2 people per room. Can be used in any of the breakfast places + the buffet (brunch).

Only caveat is that it has to be used before 11am (except for brunch which is 3.30pm).

So technically you can have both breakfast and the buffet for lunch.

That being said, it’s far from being impossible to spend $80 on breakfast an Wynn/Encore...

The wait at the PLO was worth it yesterday.

I was only up $300 after 7 hours but that was rather a function of not catching anything at a table that saw one guy winning 10k+ with a 1k starting stack playing ABC poker.

It’s almost 7 pm in Vegas and I haven’t wagered a single dollar on any game Solo Trip Report Las Vegas 6/7 - 6/23

Had a really good breakfast at Wynn’s Tableau restaurant and then hit the spa at Encore.

Sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and a massage sent me right to sleep.

Cash Games at Encore are only starting now, as their needed all their space for day 1C of the 1,100 tourney which had 1,250 starters just today. Called ahead to be put on the PLO lists and having dinner at the Jardin patio now.

Life is good...

Rebought for 1k. Got it in with AAT8ss vs AA75s. 75 makes a straight.

This game is so sick...

Run better.

Would you say the PLO game is good there? Some bad players?

Seriously addicted to PLO. Cannot wait to get back to Vegas. We have it here only once a month, but it's a great game.

Run better, RunningAces. At least you're doing the food thing correctly!

Will try to run better Solo Trip Report Las Vegas 6/7 - 6/23

I would say compared to WSOP 2016, the games have gotten considerably tougher. 3 years ago, almost all of the tables had 3+ bad players.

There are still a lot of bad players, but it seems that the ratio has of bad/good players has decreased. It’s really hit or miss, I played at an 8 handed table with 4 deep-pocketed weak players. The next day, the very same game doesn’t see a flop on a couple of hands...

Thank you!

At least it’s close to impossible to run bad foodwise at Wynn...
