Truck with a camper? Or do you mean just in the cab?

I suspect it will still be pretty hot but maybe not unmanageably so by then.

Search a little for past discussions. I think most recommend getting in a parking garage for shade.

there is a good size thread about sleeping in cars in the forum, probably a lot of good info in there. I'm on my phone and and not sure how to link threads in tapatalk but search for car in the thread title and you'll see it

I've slept in my car and truck before. The worst motel room I've ever had was better than sleeping in my pickup truck.

A players card and a mid-week stay at a Boyd property can be cheap, even free. Just got comped two nights at the Orleans, and I'm not a big player.

Go on Youtube and type the following keywords:

"Element Van Life"

"Hobo Ahle"

"Cheap RV Living"

You'll learn more than you need about sleeping in your truck from these.

As to the weather, be aware that the temperature at 1 a.m. is 20 degrees lower than the peak heat at around 3 to 6 p.m. Plus, a fan lowers perceived temperature by 13 degrees. Do the math and you'll be happy.

In Henderson, it is illegal to sleep in your car. In Las Vegas, it is legal to sleep in your vehicle but it is illegal to live in it. I don't know how the heck they expect law enforcement to interpret, much less implement, these rules.

I am not entirely sure how happy I would be sleeping in a car in a place like Vegas. Must be pretty sketchy overall and the risk of something happening is quite high I would assume.

If you absolutely have to do it then I would suggest driving out to Redrock camp site for $20 a night.

Please carry dude wipes so the other players at your table don't have to deal with the gamey smelling car sleeper who rolled out of the backseat and into the 1/2 game.

He could at least do us the favor of getting a Planet Fitness membership and showering there every day. There's one on the corner of Decatur and Flamingo, and also Pecos and Flamingo.

Best advice I have is if you can't afford a cheap motel save your roll and put it towards more vacation fun.

The truck would prob be quieter than most dive motels, and the locks more secure. Plus, there's no maid with a key that wants to steal all your stuff.

This is still too warm to sleep in a car.

Bellagio would cost 15 to 18 bucks to park.

PH, Venetian, Wynn/Encore, and TI are free, but it can be very humid inside parking lots. Not to mention that car exhaust is in the air.

If you do this at all, you won't have any problem with the Orleans and Gold Coast. Station casinos have very loud music in their parking lots.

I slept in my car for three weeks at the South point . Park in the open lot closest to the road if possible and always park within a bunch of other vehicles . I never had a single problem and they have roving security. You will need to move the truck around every couple days . Good poker room and food available as well as movie theater . Plus being at South point you are in a decent neighborhood.

OP would STILL be able to park for free at any of the MGM properties if they have the MGM Mlife credit card...free parking is one of the benefits conferred through the card.

The Orleans has a covered parking garage on the north side of the poker room that is free. Go up to the 3rd or 4th floor, get your windows tinted or put up sun shades and be quiet. There is a subway and restroom right next to poker.

Does anyone itt think that sleeping in a truck is +EV poker planning versus the alternative of paying a poker rate or lower at a decent hotel ?

If so, why ?

IMO if someone doesn't want to spring for a room or doesn't have enough money for a room they probably shouldn't be playing poker or gambling, or going to Vegas at all.

Nothing wrong with sleeping in a vehicle especially in Vegas where you constantly get raped for fees . As I stated above I slept in a Honda Accord for three weeks in the South Point parking lot. I showered at the truck stop. Probably saved myself $1,500 in hotel costs . I grinded poker . Had good food. Watched sports . Not a single person bothered me . Was safe and secure .

Plenty of cheapskates, er, frugal people play poker. Some of them have lots of money they can afford to lose.
