On second thought, health insurance might be a better bet.

Is this guy the California cousin of Codizzle88?

Before you go, you might want to send one of us the name of your next of kin.

there's a certain species of indigent that hangs out on some of the overpasses that has a sign that says something like:

"stranded in vegas. Help me get back to XXXX" with XXXX being whatever town they claim to have originally come from.

I always wonder if:

A. They are really just local indigents playing an angle or if they are really mendicant visitors stranded by some mixture of bad luck and poor planning, and;

B. If they are codizzle.

Now i suppose ill wonder if they are shawn jacobs, too.

I witnessed this species last week, they were on the overpass between Bills and Bally's, sign was something like "Need money to get back to Boston. I'm not a bum, I just want to go home". Assumed it was a ploy of some kind, but never talked to the guy to find out more or try and validate his story, as I probably would've been guilted into handing over some cash one way or another.

I'd be tempted to offer to buy someone a bus ticket and see what they say.

LOL, saw the same guy in the same place with the same sign.

There are a lot of this type around though, and one has to assume that some of them are legit. After all, its easy to imagine. Dude comes to vegas with a reasonable amount of money and no solid plan to get home. Has some catastrophic event involving gambling, drugs, prostitutes, strippers or some combination of the above and ends up stranded with no place to stay.

INCREASED THE BANKROLL

Got a good tip from my favorite 7-eleven clerk that a couple scratcher rolls were dead and not a single winner had surfaced. As outlandish as it sounds Im starting to think there might something to this startegy of buying tickets after the roll has had a ton of losers. Either that or Im just running far above expectation due to me being the super lucky guy I am.

Bought eleven $10 tickets and four $5 tickets total. Started off stuck $95 and then BOOM! I hit four consecutive winners. First $200, then $20 and then two $15's. That's a +$120 and I haven't even hit Vegas yet. Let the rungood begin!

NEWSFLASH: I'll be arriving at an earlier date than I originally planned. The Degen Fest is soon upon us!

1100 bucks, shaky lodging plans and a propensity for scratch tickets. This will work out well.

That said, give them hell OP. Run good and make this a great thread.

Correction! $1220.00 (it looks like more with the cents included)

Oh Vegas! How much hell will I give thee? Let me count the ways.

There's a really smart old guy that sleeps in the elevator on the Caesars side of the bridge almost every night. This is not exactly a brag, but my mate runs upstairs and hits the up button and about 20 seconds later I hit the down button. We had just busted out of one of the DS mtts at the V and so five minutes of this made us both feel much, much better.

I also like the one woman usually near Bill's with the sign that reads "Too ugly to prostitute". I gave her money because it was obviously not a ploy. She was ridiculously ugly.

Nobody with $1,200 has ever given Vegas hell. That's barely a good meal to some. GL OP, you're gonna need it.....all of it.

The scratch-off ticket thing is somewhat true. Let me explain.

Many years ago, before he was fired, some idiot in my state (OH) didn't vary the ticket numbers of the winners in a 200-roll ticket. So people knew to buy ticket numbers 5, 8, 22, 23, 45, 104, etc. for example.

Of course, now they are random, like they are supposed to be in the first damn place. But, they STILL have a certain amount of winners by law (and losers). Their "hold," if you will.

So, if you have that string of losers, and you are dealing with a FINITE roll of tickets, with a legally-mandated rate of winners, then you get a situation like Shawn Jacobs. Overall you have a low chance, but this is one of the few times that "it's due" really applies. They have to have some winners left in that roll. It's the law.

(I hope my explanation plus people's familiarity with probability, etc. makes this clear. Too early to argue)

How much earlier? Have you planned on what you want to do first, or are you going to wait until you're walking into the Luxor to think of that?

Bill's .50/$1 game will never be the same after this.

Shawn Jacobs degen extraordinaire is about to bust out his can of whoopass on these nits!

I can't wait for the sordid tales of stacking a retiree on SSI for $32

How sweet it will be!

In b4

OP is playing his guitar on a bridge with a cup out
yelling out "need money for drugs"
popping his cards that say GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS
just sitting on the corner not showered in a few weeks with a tall boy of MGD
making flowers out of corn shucks
selling bottle waters in front of casino/hotel entrances
got his own shell game going on the side walk with cardboard table

there was also something in canada where some math wiz somehow managed to gain an advantage on scratch offs but i forget how he did it.

that said, your logic is flawed... his chances are not effected by it being "due" because there are not a guaranteed number of winners among all the people that come to vegas with 1200 dollars.

that said, im rooting for OP. It takes balls to try and like he said, if he fails he just retreats with his tail between his legs. the only reason I talk ****, OP, is because having the thread seems to demand it. I figure this is your way of psyching yourself up.
