I can't wait to get this party started!
You are wasting way too much on this. 6 nights for $400 really is not a bargain. Live in a ****ty motel. If you would cut down all expenses as low as possible you would hava a fighting chance. Now it doesnt look good.

Well I still hope you run like god, but even if you do I think you need to move away from Luxor :P

Why not sleep on a friend's couch for 6 months, or move home or whatever, get 2 jobs, and put four or five thou together, then take your shot.

My reasoning here is that I'm thinking that the aspect of this that will be most valuable and satisfying is the experience itself, and the poker shot is secondary. If that is true ( and it will be I promise you) experiencing going broke on day 2 and eating Ramen in your room for 4 days isn't going to be all that great of an experience.

Either way I do wish you the best, and I hope you get the most out of it that you can.
Agree with this. I like it when people do stuff like this, but your roll is way too small, and the risk of ruin is simply huge. be a complete no-lifer for a few months and work like a mother**cker, save ~$5k and then do your thing.

Good or bad, over the long run, everybody gets what they want out of poker.

@OP: you wanted some attention, now you got it. You don't want to succeed or make money from poker, that's not you goal. I know it, and you know it.

I went to Vegas for 5 nights with the girlfriend and brought 4k. I ended up spending 6.5....
Thankfully I won 500bucks over 20 hours of poker and hit back to back to back to back cross on 8black at roulette for 1500 and straight flush at three card poker on a 25$bet.
Moral of the story; Pit games are the nuts. Good luck.

I understand there are a lot of differences in opinion on whether or not I even have a small chance of success. This account of my journey isn't meant to be a strategy forum. I have purposely withheld my specific plan because I've never felt it to be a good idea to play poker with your cards face up. I also feel that it's fairly overdone and to be honest isn't very interesting. Someone says "Hey I'm going to Vegas with X amount is that enough? Where should I play? Where should I stay? What should I buy in for?.....Will I make it?" It inevitably follows with a wide spectrum of replies about how they're doing it wrong.

Once I've moved on from the ranks of a small stakes grinder I plan on providing all the advice and insight I possibly can on what strategic decisions I made in getting things off the ground. However, for now this is meant to be nothing but an inspiration for those that have the guts to "take the bull by the horns" and in the words of Nike "Just do it."

Yet since we have a little time between now and when I arrive I have decided to give a small portion of my strategy away. I will answer one and only one question about the decisions I have made so far in detail. So fire away and of the questions I have already been asked and new ones I receive I will choose the one that has the most interesting answer.

What would you guys most like to know?

Treat it like a vacation, and try to let that $1100 last until the end. Have fun, because that's about the only thing that guaranteed.

So basically, you're planning to win at poker the same way Nixon was planning to win the Vietnam War. What could go wrong?

Good luck to you, but the secret plan thing is pretty inane.

Question:

Are you going to be updating this thread once you get in Vegas?

Nixon never planned on winning the Vietnam War. His whole idea was to make it appear we were winning and then to withdraw. I, on the other hand, do not plan on withdrawing from my goal. I will conquer Vegas or Vegas will conquer me but there will be no in between. Sin City will get nothing but an epic battle of which a clear winner will emerge.

I'll leave you all with the ending lines of a well known poem by Dylan Thomas. You'll hear from me again the minute I'm making noise in Vegas.

Do not go gentle into that good night
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Enjoy your Thanksgiving everyone. Just knowing that we live in a country where we're free to attempt crazy ideas such as this gives us a lot to be thankful for.

One way or the other, this thread will be incredible.
Odds are high that he loses it all in the first 48 hrs and then never updates the thread.

In before homeless.

Jk man, but you should set a realistic goal like, "I'm going to build my bankroll to 25BI's, and come back later once I've saved enough and planned my move."

Or just "I'm going to stop quoting Dylan Thomas because it makes me sound fey"
