I am generally one of the defenders of folks who do this, and in principle I'm with you. That said, it's hard to understand why you'd even think about doing it with that small of a roll, if only from a fun-and-excitement pov. Why not sleep on a friend's couch for 6 months, or move home or whatever, get 2 jobs, and put four or five thou together, then take your shot.

My reasoning here is that I'm thinking that the aspect of this that will be most valuable and satisfying is the experience itself, and the poker shot is secondary. If that is true ( and it will be I promise you) experiencing going broke on day 2 and eating Ramen in your room for 4 days isn't going to be all that great of an experience.

Either way I do wish you the best, and I hope you get the most out of it that you can.
