INTERLUDE:
My dad decided to drive back to California with me, which was great in that I was able to sleep for a couple of hours while he drove. We had lunch at a barbecue place in Bakersfield called Firestone, which doesn’t appear to be related to the Firestone Brewery in San Luis Obispo. I spent two weeks in California and then headed back to Vegas. Before I left Vegas I put $10 on five golfers to win the Master’s: McIlroy, Koepka, Johnson, Fleetwood, and Fowler. Koepka and Johnson both tied for 2nd place, Fowler tied for 9th, and McIlroy was in 21st. Fleetwood 36th. No, I didn’t bet on Tiger, but it was really fun to watch the Sunday round.

DAY 6
Now it's two weeks later. I had wondered whether I would be ready to go back to Vegas so soon, as cancelling was an option. But of COURSE I wanted to return. I drove back to Planet Hollywood, this time also comped two nights (+Fees). I arrived around 4:30 pm and immediately checked in to a 19th floor room with a Bellagio Fountain view.

Then I walked around to get some food. I had high hopes of getting a combo pan roast at Palace Station, based on Gobbo's recommendation, but when I arrived in Vegas so close to 5 pm I decided I didn’t want to wait in line for hours and instead walked to the Oyster Bar at Harrahs. I had a martini, six oysters which were horrible, and a really good pan roast. I had terrible oysters here the last time I tried it, and they haven’t improved---but at least the prices have gone up! ($96! for a cocktail, 6 oysters, and the pan roast, ugh)

After dinner I decided to check out the Harrah’s poker room. It was full, with no list, so I put my name on there and walked around. I decided to put in $200 to a multi-line video poker machine: Ultimate X Spin Poker!

It was $0.25/credit and I did “bet max” which ended up being something like 10 lines and 10 bets per line so it was 100 credits or $25 for the first spin! Yikes. So I backed it off to 5 lines and 5 bets per line, and it was $6.25/line. I was down to $125 when I was dealt 3 aces….

Well that's exciting, let's see how it goes:
Spoiler:

So that was nice. I got my first handpay ever. On a $.25 machine. And the tax form! On April 15, tax day.

Here's a photo from the end of the night.

solid update; nice bink on VP; im sure it made up for the pricey, yet crappy oysters

Good gawd, Ultimate X and Spin combined??!? The mega-degens will be in spasms over that.

Keep all your losing sports tickets, those losses may offset any wins you had wrt taxes.

p.s. Make photocopies, the ink fades after a few months. Ask me how I know.

BTW, it might be that you want to play max credits, especially if Ult X multipliers require it. Imagine a multi-line hit with 10x multiplier(s)!

What am I missing in that VP win? The top line appears to have only 3 aces. The second line has 4 aces with a 5 kicker. How do you win for 4 Aces with any 2,3,4?

It's the way the multi-lines work. They go through different combinations. This screenshot shows the winning hands. The line in the shape of a "V" is the jackpot hand, and the straight line through the middle row is also four aces, but without the kicker, as is the upside down "V":

Day 7--the Final Day

Breakfast--Egg Slut. First time there. First time where the line wasn't insane (this was probably 7:30 am in the mid-week). Egg sandwich and a coffee ($15.88). Spent an hour at Cromwell playing table games, and then I find myself on the walkway between Cromwell and Caesar's, watching the increasingly proliferating showgirls on the Strip trying to get people to pay for photos. There are way more showgirls outside than there are showgirls actually in shows now.

So it's 11 am or so, and....I'm bored? I decide to mix it up and head downtown.

I get an Uber and he drops me at the Golden Nugget.

I play Hold 'Em for a few hours with the old folks until I have to leave because some guy at the other table is having LOUD conversations (actually it's more like a monologue) about Trump (pro). I play Ultimate TX Hold 'Em and win $200 in about 45 minutes. I play some blackjack. Play some craps. It's now cold, windy, and raining outside.

I go to El Cortez for some Roulette.

Around 4 pm I go to Triple George and sat at the bar. I have a martini and "Buttermilk Sage Fried Chicken" and mashed potatoes with gravy ($50.22). Good value, nice spot.

Uber back to the hotel.

Smoked a cigar while taking in the Bellagio fountain show.

Played some Hold 'Em at PH, where I had AA, raised to $20, and a guy shoved on me. I snap called, he shows KK, and I flop quads, gaining a $50 bonus in addition to felting the guy. In for $200, out for about $450.

Then I played some blackjack. In for $200, out for:

I figured that was sufficient--and what a couple of days! Bink the VP jackpot, and won at virtually every game I played. Total gain for those two days was in excess of $2000, making the 7 day net gambling profit (not including food/lodging) approximately $1000.

Last view of the fountains at night:

Last view of Vegas on the morning of my departure:

Then, the long drive home....

I don't have any grand summary, but overall it was a phenomenal trip. Thanks for reading.

Even at 8 am on a Thursday, there was a line for taking photos, so I just stood a bit farther back to take a photo and return to PH.

There is no line. Just people being dumb: https://vitalvegas.com/the-las-vegas...live-and-well/

Whether you pay someone or not, it's a courtesy line for people to get a photo without other people in the photo. Sure, you can walk up to the front, or even the side, and it's not illegal but it's discourteous.
