A really fun story that I forgot to share from the tourney at Aria. Was seated on the same table with a hilarious guy and somehow blackjack came up. We both shared a ton of fun stories and it turns out he is banned from playing at all casinos except two - at the last two they reshuffle every hand. He mentioned he was making 5 figures a night back in the day. Either way, hilarious guy who also wrote a book about blackjack and will give me a signed copy.

As far as the chop sitch goes, if the person on my left has been playing tight I'll usually offer the chop just to speed the game up. If that person says no, all in as soon as the flop spreads #GOGAMBLE!

This is a damn good report so far. Bless you for putting in that many poker sessions.

Any Vegas local reading who might shed some light into how comps work, especially at Venetian? I am a bit surprised as I played 2+ hours at $75 average bet and at times up to $100-$200. The guy at the stand this morning told me that they only count number of hours played and not bets, that makes 0 sense? Secured a $30 comp for Grand Lux based on my play which is absolutely ridiculous. I was under the impression that Venetian also had a theo system.

It’s really hard to say. I lost some after the Aria cash session + done a ton of shopping t and a ton of restaurants/ entries / taxis / etc. Not really keeping any track, but I am well up I know that. I started the trip with $1000 spending money and it’s over half done and I have $2500 or so left.

Monday morning. Halfway through the trip already. Time sure flies, both in Vegas and other places.

Quick poker-update after the cash game session at Aria yesterday. I went back to the hotel and was lazy for an hour or two, before going down to the spa for some jaccuzi-action.

Feeling refreshed afterwards, I decided I wanted to play a quick tournament just for the fun of it, with the chance to win a few hundred $ if any rungood. Decided on MGM's $80 turbo tourney (15 min blinds) at 7pm, with 15k starting stack and 25/50 starting blinds. Obviously a crapshoot, but that's what I signed up for and I believe my push-fold game is decent enough at least.

The tournament got fewer players than I had anticipated; as only 13 people entered. I made it to the final table (some feat!), but my faith was decided when I with my 11 big blinds called an even shorter stacks push with AQo. He had KJhh, but unfortunately hit a Jack on the turn. I was decimated and busted in 8th place a few hands later.

Took the Monorail back, and jumped into a $1-$2 game at Venetian to end the night. I was up a bit early, then started losing every small pot I entered and was at one point down around $85 or so. Then I got into a very interesting spot, with a guy that looked super annoying (read: hoodie covering his entire nose and mouth every hand he played, lol), but that was somewhat competent. He had a very wide pre-flop range (84hh and 62dd comes to mind), but was decent at putting pressure on people and had quickly built up from $200 or so to around $400.

In this particular hand he raises to $6 from mid-pos and it folds to me in SB. I obviously look down at QQ and 3-bets to $20. Only he calls. Flop comes A-T-4, with the latter two being spades. Not the best flop, but I still like betting more than checking so I lead $25. He gives it a think and then 3-bets to $65.

My first instinct is frustration over yet another bad flop in this game, but then I managed to switch my brain over to constructive thinking. He called a 3-bet, so he can certainly have an Ace. But he would likely 4-bet AK, it's almost impossible for him to have AQ, and would he really fast-play AJ/A9 etc. like that? Sure, there are a lot of hands he could have that beat me (AT, TT, 44, Ax suited in spades), but something didn't seem right about him coming in for a raise there. So I called, willing to call the turn as well on a non-spade.

Turn is a red 4, and I check. He quickly checks back, and I feel pretty good about the situation. River is 4s, another good card. I now have a full house, so my only worry is whether he has an A or not. I don't really think so, so I check it over to him ready to call down if needed. He checks back however, and I table my hand knowing it's good.

Played another round or two without anything happening, and was super tired anyway, so left the game +$16 USD.

Now I'm gonna hit the shower and then have a 50 minute massage in the Spa here. Really looking forward to it. After that I might play the $140 at Aria 1pm. Feel pretty decent today, at least so far.

Results tracker:

Cash:

Hours played: 19.5 h
Amount won: $1050 USD
Hourly rate: $53.8 USD

Tournaments:

Amount won: -$160 USD

I don't know on table games, but they love slot/vp players. A friend of mine who's not a high roller, mostly $1, won $2500 on some kind of machine there, and they have been giving him free rooms, etc trying to get it back.

Doesn't that MGM tournament have a $2,000 guaranteed prize pool like the 11am one does?

Both have identical structures. That would be quite the overlay..

You talked to someone in the pits and not the poker room, right?

I talked to the host at the Grazie desk down at the V. He said it is only based on time and not proper theo.

$750 guarantee only. Even with that few players it was surpassed.

If you had hit one of your two queens on the river you'd have taken his whole stack imo. Would bet he had KJ for sure. Raised his draw and checked back turn/river when he had free card and then showdown equity.

Great TR guys, thanks for sharing and GL for rest of trip

That seems crazy. I would ask a pit boss next time you are actually playing.

New day new takings. Let's forget yesterday horrible cash/pit sessions.

Starting with some positive vibes:

He got $1 from me and I got a "Have a good day" from him. Paradox much?

Aiming down the barrel now for the $100 3k GTD at PH:

So 100 hours of $10 a hand blackjack gets 10 times as many comps as 10 hours of $5,000 a hand blackjack?

Seems legit.

On my way back to the hotel properly sick to my stomach as far as tournaments go. $350 KO at Venetian we get it in on Q62r flop with 66 against QQ - obviously. Grabbing a burger and going to just chill until tonight’s tourney. For the Swedish readers - #Palla..

My guess is that the Venetian rates all play under $100 average bet as just >$100. He gave you the quick explanation but basically if you’re not an over black chip avg bettor they don’t really care. Play slots if you want comps, but really F comps you don’t need em

Made it to FT in the above (around 40regs total) but unfortunately bust at 9th with 5 paid.

Was a fun tourney which suited me quite well, so will be looking to play this one/similar again during this visit.

In a home game you should chop to endear yourself to the other players; keep them happy; and get onto the next hand where someone will 4-bet with T4o.

I'm not Swedish, I wonder why you thought so? The SW in the name I suppose? (For the record I'm Canadian, the slightly-less-everything version of Americans.)

I happen to know permobil, as I have mobility issues myself. I think I see what you're referring to, not too sure, and perhaps for the best if we don't go too far down this road?

(Don't worry, no offense taken, even if there was i'm Canadian so I'd pobably end up apologizing myself.)

Last tourney I played in was at the V. 6th hand I ran my A-high flush into a straight flush. Rebuy, didn't last until the break, turned nut straight vs rivered bigger straight. Live poker is rigged obv.

Keep the reports coming guys.

Was this the Saturday $340 tourney at the V? If so then we were next to each other after your reentry.
