If you have a decent travel insurance there will usually be some allowance in there for lost / delayed luggage, so that you may shop clothes and other necessities and claim the amount back through the insurance. Check the conditions of the insurance, it can sometimes be a substantial amount.

OP, this needs te be detailed in the TR!

Good luck guys. Have a blast.

I can detail it for you as jet lag seems to have won and I am wide awake after 4 hours of sleep at 2:40 Vegas time.

We landed, sorted out our hotel, had some food and went around a bunch of casinos close to Harrahs and were laughing hysterically at all the poor people playing 6/5 blackjack with a soft 17 hit. For me that’s such an incredible game I wouldn’t touch it if that was the last game available on earth.

I vaguely remembered that they had 3/2 at Cromwell however and we passed by it so why not? Got a new table opened for the three of us, O lost his entire 50$ (he is not a degen and it will probably be the most he loses this trip), J lost overall 20$ and I went on a small heater capturing a few lucky doubles and cashing out a whopping $270 from $120 buyin.

On our way back from clothes shopping we signed up for Total Rewards and got a $10 match play. Changed $20 at a random table (obviously 6/5 so there you go haha). Won first hand, doubled the bet won that one as well and left with $80 profit in 4 seconds.

For drinks, nothing yet. We have been fairly boring so far.

Now sitting at Harrahs 1/2, game seems fairly easy with drunks and stuff like that.

Cheers! We get 50$ covered by the airline per day + have some from the insurance as well. Not too worried

I need to get used to these weird lines over here. Guy min-raises UTG and gets two callers + me in bb with KQo. Flop KQ3r and he leads for $100. We GII and board runs out clean vs AA. If games are always this soft I might put in a few more hours of cash each day

Thanks for the mention, no need to hold the kicker there- it doesn't seem to matter in the version you're playing.

Still wrong to hold the kicker in DDB, sorry to say. In TDB is it automatic.

With the above quote as backdrop, it's time for my first update since arriving. Both K and J have extensively written about the travel, so I'm not gonna add much more it. Thankfully we managed to get on the plane in London, and my decision to travel with a carry-on suitcase seems to have been a good one (no lost luggage here).

Fell asleep around 10pm Vegas time, after having been awake for more than 24 hours. Managed to squeeze in a bit more sleep than 'MuckPls', and woke up at 5:15am. Standard for first day in Vegas.

Quickly met up with him after some quick breakfast, and we decided (for no apparent reason) to head over to the Aria. Played a little bit of blackjack first (in for $50, out for $50), before I left K at the table and strolled over to the Aria poker room. Got seated in a $1-$3 6-handed cash game (bought in for $300), and even though I only played for an hour there were a lot of interesting hands.

Lost a small pot in the beginning, before I picked up KK in the big blind after button and SB had limped in for $3. I made it $15, and they both called. Flop came Q-T-6 rainbow, and I bet 25. Only button called. Turn is a 7, with a second diamond out there. 89 got there, but I still feel I can bet for value. I bet 42, only to see my opponent move all-in for around 200. Gave it a good thought, but eventually decided on a fold.

While there are some hands I beat, I really thought that he would have raised AQ pre (he was raising a fair bit at times), that KQ was unlikely due to me having two kings, and that hands like QT and 98 (or even T7) were likely limping candidates from the button. In hindsight the fold was perhaps a bit too tight against this player, but I couldn't know that at the time.

I bounce back quickly, doubling to over starting stack after rivering a full house and calling my opponents bluff-shove. Won two small pots after that as well, before picking up AKo from UTG. I make it 10, and get 3 callers.

Flop comes A-7-8 with two spades. I c-bet 20 (perhaps a bit too small) and get two callers. Turn is 5 of clubs, putting two flushdraws on board. Fairly safe card, 96 is not a likely calling hand pre, and unless someone got frisky with 76 on flop, I should still be ahead. I bet 45, and only the Asian opponent from KK-hand calls. River is another 5, which seems really safe. With all the missed draws however, I check it over to him, hoping he will take a stab with some of those. He does, and goes all-in. I call pretty fast, and the opponent just mucks his cards.

So from being down around $150 after 15 minutes, we suddenly have this situation:

Play a few more orbits without much happening, and cash out for $780 exactly. Nice start to the trip, especially for such a short session.

Plan now is to hit up the gym for a quick workout, and then we'll see after that. I will play Trooper Thursday tonight at 6pm, so likely not entering a tournament today, but will probably squeeze in another cash game session (Venetian maybe) before heading out to the Westgate.

Oy vey, that looks like a progressive vp machine, with a lousy jackpot. But I don't know much about progressives, other than to avoid them. Leon's analysis?

It's terrible simply from a level 1 inspection- 7/5 (full/flush) DDB. However, OP is playing for fun and killing time. I never judge unless someone claims to be an expert and proves themselves a moron. I certainly make mistakes myself and have been known not to maximize EV 100% of the time either

I’m also at Venetian, playing in a $1-$2 cash game. Not too much happening; the high hand promotion makes games fairly nitty.

Edit: Jinxed myself. Just lost JTcc on JT8 vs shortstack 88. Not much to do with that.

Update to above; lost a whooping $11 USD at Venetian. I actually made one incorrect fold, although I would say it has some merit given the action in the hand.

There are 3 limps to me (including SB), and I check my options in the BB with A6o. The flop comes A-9-6 rainbow. SB check, I check, and the first limper bets 15 (!). It folds to SB who quickly makes it 35. I'm a bit perplex, but decide to flat the 35 to see what the first player does. He goes all-in for around 95, and then SB insta-shoves for 180 or so.

Is a super icky spot, as I block A9 and 66, but at the same time my opponents have shown huge strength, seemingly not caring about my coldcall at all. I eventually make a very tight fold, the hand runs out, and players have AJ (first limper) and AK (!) for SB. So I had them both in bad shape. Normally action like that should mean stronger hands, but in this instance they had me fooled.

Now I'm gonna head out and take the Monorail to Westgate Casino for Trooper Thursday. I'm starting to become a bit tired/worn out from the early start, so likely won't stay for too long. But will obviously give a full report from the game, either tonight or tomorrow morning.

But for the price of a single cheese animal style (~$4), there is no better value. In N Out "spread" is so, so perfect.

Also, Shake Shack, Freddy's Steakburgers and Steak N Shake all serve better burgers than Five Guys, IMO. Peanut oil really wrecks the experience. Hell, if you find a good one where the employees give half a ****, Carls Jr can even be better than Five Guys.
Shake Shack and Steak N Shake def strong - they season their burgers when cooking, Five Guys doesn't. Salt = flavor.... open a package of salt, season your Five Guys burgers boldly and it should make a difference.
